I remember 91, but it could have been 92. I need to dig out my Flyers. Also On-e was spinning Jungle around 93 at Light Wisdom and Sound...
Here's an old one of mine (sorry for the shitty pic): Mask-A-Rave by Beautification Syndrome, on Flickr
Dec 1996. 2TUFF Productions introduced the DC, MD, VA states to the sounds of Drum n Bass, Jungle, and Tech Step. This was Ed Rush's inaugural US appearance and in Washington, DC alongside DJ TRACE! (who was bouncing back and forth between living in Philly and the UK) Hosted and toasted by a US and UK MC going back to back-together!! That was monumental business seeing as how most of the UK emcees, were very stand-off ish about sharing the stage with American emcees. DUB2 was the originating voice for American emcees too, he was the Don! My old friend Nes and I worked our way into the 2TUFF fold by ''working door security'' and patting down the people for weapons. We later forged friendships with the crew, and became 2TUFF's emcees. So many good memories, so many parties, it was heady times for certain.
Thanks for posting that maskarave flyer Chris. Seeing Dante's name brought back a lot of memories, I loved his sets with the violinist. I saw Ed rush and optical around 95 I think, we had an event here called Dark Christmas
it only happens once a year,,,this weekend: notting hill carnival...getting ready for some loud tunes & heavy soundsystems always my highlight of the london calendar year!!

I'm digitizing some cassette tapes this morning. I find my rides to school are about 25-20 mins with some traffic so it's perfect to listen to almost a full side of an old tape. I was listening to all the old LTJ Bukem Yaman tape sets (digitized) but lately I've been into 1999-2000 techstep. I literally have a giant duffle bag full of old mixtapes in a closet in my apartment. Anyhow I'm a stickler for track listings (I put them on all my mp3 mixes so if a tune comes up and I can't remember I don't go nuts thinking about it all day) and for the life of my can't find a track listing online for: Usual Suspects Live @ the End 3/12/99. Back when I first had it I wrote side one down but forgot to list side two! Doh! Anyone know it? I have the 3 pack promo tape set from 1998 with Dylan, Loxy, Usual Suspects also, same problem.
I am pretty sharp with late 90s renegade hardware, RAM recordings, etc. if you upload the set to http://uploaded.net/ I am sure I could figure out at least 3/4 of it
just got home from an AWOL event MICKEY FINN DARREN JAY MC FEARLESS it was great but attendance was poor
Go here before May 2013 and get any One in The Jungle set you can think of: http://www.oneinthejungle.com/ I highly highly recommend the Danny Breaks & Randall set. Only annoying thing is this female MC who comes in 3-4 times and tries to sing and she bloody well can't! If someone could make software that edits out/mutes MC's you'd be rich. Track selection is off the meter! I'd love to be able to ID some of the unknowns. Here is a site that has track listings- always essential : http://www.iainn.com/mixes/OneInTheJungle/tracks.rtf.
Huge Jungle/D&B fan right here! I bought my first mix tape (actually on cassette) back in 95, it was a mix by LTJ Bukem. I was hooked.. I used to be the staff photographer for Buzz, a weekly party in DC, that was voted the number 1 club night in the US multiple years in a row.. Because of that, I've got to shoot and hang with a shitload of D&B originators such as )EIB(, Bukem, Hype, Shy FX, Goldie, Kemmy and Storm, Trace, John B, Blame, etc.. I could go on and on but you get the point... Just saw Hype about a month ago and he's just as good as back in the hayday... Glad to see other heads on here...
some really good sets listed! Ray Kieth was sooo ahead of his time. Really looking forward to listening to Ed Rush & Trace, hoping the Omni Trio set is not his jazzier stuff. thnx for the link.
My God... Those were the days, huh Tony? MC Mecha, Nes and 2Tuff were monumwntal to the DC D&B scene in the 90's... I've been a shitload of places around the US and DC held that shit down back in the day... I'm glad and honored to be a part of such a strong scene..
good looks Noel!! good to see you on board too. hope you read up on the FAQ section for new brains. if not, do so. it will help on your journey here.
I have a full box of old flyers somewhere, seeing these is really making me want to dig em up. for now I got this to share with my fellow headz.. before a tiny rust spot would be a nuance, now it's a patch of valor.
just noticed kaos on this flyer. we drove him back to NJ from an ultraworld party at the armory. ok. i'm old.
