Dude I love these! The bride and Frankenstein's monster and the creature are musts but I will probably score them all lol
I was looking for a photo of a Frankenstein's Monster mug that my girlfriend picked up from a Halloween store two years ago. I couldn't find it, but I did find this. It basically sums up my life.
Mele Kalikimaka my sofubi and kaiju Ohana! My fiance' picked me up this sweet new Trader Sam's aloha shirt that will match our mug collection perfectly! (she also got a matching dress for herself for when we go to Disney World in March!)
Nice Andy! Great shirt and goddammit am I glad to see someone sporting summer. I've been over winter since it started
What's shakin you crazy cats! My fiance' and I are holding a tiki wedding next June and are contemplating attending Tiki Kon out in Portland this year. Tickets aren't on sale yet, but we're thinking maybe we'll fly over to get some new ideas for themeing or something. Who knows. Happy Weekend! EDIT: Oops totally forgot the reason I was posting in this thread. Got some new concepts currently in the works. MOTU-ORA the multi-faced deity of the mysterious isle, as well as the MOAI MOBILE, able to swap the head from the car to a smug moai body.
Oh nice score! I saw those when they dropped and was so happy to add them to my collection. Then bonus since they did the red one with mondo
definitely on a mug kick right now. I contacted Munktiki and they'll be taking care of our wedding mugs for us. Super exciting!
So this was totally random and hilarious at the same time. I was driving down US-20 today in my truck and stumbled across what apparently used to be the "Tanela Restaurant". It's been closed for over 20 years I guess and yet there is still this incredible concrete piece sitting outside: It's just super weird because A) I never knew this place existed and B) my fiance' and I have been casting our own wax candles using a mold I made from ... well....I'll show you: That's just a little weird, right?
Well Andy, you already mentioned you have a truck... A few hammers, two crowbars and a handful of (liquored up) friends and I'd say you have the centerpiece for your reception.
It's a work truck that I was mention, but the moai is at least 7 feet tall and concrete. That being said, I've been TRYING to hunt down any and all realtor information on the location, because based on the current state of the moai statue I'd say they'd be willing to let it go for cheap.
^ The perfect wedding reception greeter! Love the idea of the tiki mugs for the wedding, Andy - just my kind of people. I am sure they are going to turn out amazing.
I seriously wish I could just invite all you toy folk to our event. Unfortunately we're already up to about 200 people lol
Mr. Moai prototype. He comes with his Mysterious Moai Mobile which is adorned with Birdman motifs from Rapanui and his head can be swapped back and forth between the saucer and his attitude-filled torso.
In such trying times, why not post a goofy photo of myself in a magnificent wicker throne! (my fiance' totally wants a couple for our wedding). This was taken at Trader Vic's in London last year. Amazing place.
So I just learned of some really nice Tiki-themed lots up for charity auction from junkhauler arts, all proceeds of which are going to support Lost N Found Youth, which is a lifeline for at risk youth, and the NAACP. If anyone is keen on such things, which I think a number of us are, and would like to lend support, do check out the auctions below (or pass through the IG link above for more pics). 1. Tiki mugs and ceramics, books, pendants, swizzles lot Charity Auction for NAACP 2. Beachbum Berry and Bosko tiki mug lot Charity auction Books, mugs, swizzle sticks, pins, vases, ashtrays - everything your heart (or tasteful home) could desire. Please share as you like to get the message out there.
Damn now THOSE are some sweet picks in that lot @ultrakaiju . Great find. In the meantime, My fiance' and I are having a batch of Munktiki barrel mugs produced for our wedding next June. Exciting! Ours will be glazed green, instead of black shown in the photo.
So, in preparation for what would have been SDCC, [The Artist] Shag joined forces with Beeline Creative to produce some really fun Star Wars tiki mugs. Look, I know the whole pop-culture as tiki has kind of gone overboard (is there anything that hasn't though?) but these are still kinda fun, and at least it is an independent thing, versus the mass-production merch factories. The best part about it is actually not the mugs at all though, but the interplanetary artwork Shag created to go along with these.
