Re: New Secret Base i totally forgot...i was thinking this that's what happens when you post from work and are juggling too many thoughts/balls...sorry to confuse
Re: New Secret Base So far this is what jhateball came up with: Micro Infection Monsters (and Alien?) Checklist?
Re: New Secret Base looks like they're showing pics of the gold printed one. anyone who missed out has another opportunity.
Re: New Secret Base It is the gold print... About 5 days ago I searched Usugrow thanks to a tip from a boardie, the gold print was up... Got mine yesterday. Pretty sweet! Hopefully some can score!
Re: New Secret Base Sorry to derail but I just received a double pour Rebel Ink and I was quite upset to find out that the GID pour has quite a few bubbles (which obviously do not look too good), has this happened to anyone else? When it comes to Secret Base I tend to expect high quality production...
Re: New Secret Base I have toys with some bubble/manufacturing issues from a lot of companies that have generally great qc. Gargamel, Super7, etc. It happens.
Re: New Secret Base Yeah, I thought so, thanks for answering. I do however feel that companies should check twice before releasing toys with similar issues, I mean after all these aren't exactly mass market production toys (especially when it comes to the retail price). I've probably been lucky as this is pretty much the first time in years of collecting that I've actually picked up a vinyl with so many bubbles.
Re: New Secret Base Bubbles are part of the craftsmanship, it is something that when manipulated properly can give great finishes to toys or just be very subtle. It does not get slack from me. Remember, these things are basically hand made at all stages of the process. For perfect pours, go with the chinese vinyl, those pellets melt to perfection.
Re: New Secret Base Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not. In my opinion a couple of bubbles are not a big issue but when you pay nice $ and find your toy with 5/6 bubbles this sucks. I can really understand anyway that the term "perfection" cannot be related to a hand made product but at the same time I would really appreciate a double check...
Re: New Secret Base Personally I don't think it's about the search of perfection but specifically in this case about the nature of Usugrow's aesthetic (which isn't exactly the same as let's say an IKB hedorah). Bubbles in such a refined sculpt pretty much suck in my book. I obviously appreciate the hand made nature of Japanese toys, for this reason I'm here commenting; but having said all this I can't say I agree with you and with the tone of you comment but whatever.
Re: New Secret Base Gah, sorry! It was supposed to be sarcasm. I do get how one can get irked about bubbles, specially if they get in the way of the sculpt. The money spent on these would also command a better QC, and I get that. I guess my point comes from the view that sometimes it is so hard to get some of these guys, that anything really makes up for it at the end of the day. Its not that my standards are low, I just consider the toy's quality a part of the experience, much like vintage people love their beat-up pieces. I dont know if I make much sense. :s
Re: New Secret Base SecretBase warned about air bubbles. With the Balzac ones there was a disclaimer in english. For the Rebels there was a no return for bubble disclaimer, which should have been a hint. It is just part of the double pour process.
Re: New Secret Base Ah cool, good to know, I had no idea. This obviously changes the whole situation and is something I appreciate. Thanks for the info. Edit: fortunately my Balzac arrived without any bubble at all.
Re: New Secret Base Scored a double pour RI So this new UxP collab comes in two combos? Seems like the pic above is red marbeled with blue glitter but eckos one up for sale looks like blue with red glitter. So its random which color the glitter is in?
Re: New Secret Base Just noticed that too, wonder if thats set like blue glitter gets silver, red glitter is gold, so theres only 2 not 4 pcs
