I heard they saw the error and had originally pulled it from the sale items...

That is 100% correct. It was caught by myself and Jon after he handed it to me. He took it back but I guess they decided to sell it due to the high outcall for the item.
I held that figure at the con and almost purchased until I saw the flaw and now am kicking myself in the rear end ;) .

    Nice score King.

Yea, I'd have to agree with Loco.
That word holds some negative connotation.
Just be lazier and use JP.
    That's what I do.

you are joking right? I see your wink face, but still??

There is a HUGE difference between referring to San Diego Comic Con as SDCC and Japanese as Japs.

He wasn't talking about a person and don't think he meant to come accross offensive. Although I like to personify my toys sometimes it wasn't talking about a person, and yes, I thought about making that statement in purple. The boards are hostile lately...... :?

I've seen "jap" (not Japs) used to refer to "the Japanese version" when it comes to Star Wars toys as well as "jp." I don't think any disrespect was meant by those using it, or this guy. BUT since it is in the area of racial slurs I never used it myself and just went "jp" to abbreviate. But than "Jurassic Park" fans might get confused.

Anyway, it's not cool, and I hope a lesson was learned. The original poster hasn't commented yet, so no judgments from me until than. Hopefully either "jp version" or "Japanese version" will be used from now on.

I don't really care if his intent was to call any specific person a "jap", the term is a racial slur regardless. The point of my post was that his abbreviation for "japanese" is an offensive term regardless of intent.

wow all of that nonsense over nothing... i'm not racist, and i understand how it would be a racial slur if i was talking about someone... but i wasn't.

And that was basically the kind of response expected out of Eckotyper...

Nobody said you were a racist. All that was stated was that your abbreviation for Japanese is a racial slur regardless of how you intended its use. Try to keep up.

It's up to you whether or not you want to learn from this and either use "JP" or just type out "Japanese", but referring to things as "jap versions" isn't going to win you any friends here.

You don't have to be calling a person a "Jap" for the term to be offensive. Walk into a Japanese restaurant and yell "I love Jap food", and see what kind of service you'll get...
