Here's a full set of the vinyl stickers that will soon be going out to my Garamike Kickstarter backers (along with the t-shirts, for some). All favorites of mine- photographs, paintings and drawings I've come across over the years of doing Garamania, plus a sticker of the newly-redesigned GARAMANIACAL Pygeister Garowley show promo graphic by illustrator Jack Gray. Please note, other than perhaps the Pygeister Garowley, I have no intention to sell these, individually or as sets, at any point- they are merely for backer rewards and giveaway purposes- just want to make that clear, as most of them are by artists I have no connection with outside of featuring their work on Garamania. Mostly, I just wanna get all this fine Gara-graphic goodness out into the world! So- ready to win this set? It's name de-scramblin' time again... first to post the answers in this thread wins. Three guitarists, one bassist, four pseudonyms- GO! jthoudnhnnsrey blhoejwba eligninewigefedlgrn dhleroceise
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga HINT: They're in ascending order of obscurity (well, maybe the top two are arguably equal...)
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga Johnny Thunders NEW YORK DOLLS Jah Wobble PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED Winged Eel Fingerling THE MAGIC BAND Helios Creed CHROME Nice taste in fingerers, sir! edit: changed up the deeply embarrassing first stab of "Winger Eel Fingerthing." Fingerthing, SHEESH, that's not even a name!
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga I couldn't get passed Johnny Thunders haha. Congrats!
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga Thanks, Aldo! Jah Wobble jumped out at me first, then Thunders came pretty quick. Mr. Creed took some sketching out but was willing to show himself after a little scramblin'; then I figured the long salad HAD to be one of Beefheart's guitarists. Which one didn't exactly leap to me right away, I'll confess, but a quick grab of the album jackets proved my theory right! Further demystification: Johnny Thunders aka John Anthony Genzale, Jr. Jah Wobble aka John Joseph Wardle Winged Eel Fingerling aka Elliot Ingber Helios Creed aka... only his momma knows Mitch's fun contest serves as a timely reminder that every man, woman and child on this board should have some albums featuring the above stringsingers on hand, not least of which being New York Dolls, Second Edition, The Spotlight Kid and Half Machine Lip Moves. edit: changed up the deeply embarrassing first stab of "Winger Eel Fingerthing." Winger, PSHAW, Mitch never listened to Winger!
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga Great work!!! I got stumped after johnny thunder & jah wobble.... Really cool sticker set!!!! Congrats!!!!
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga DAVID... you are so goddamn close, Sir (you're probably like, "WHAT???"), but I'm sorry... the judges cannot accept your full answer as written. Take a close look, man. In the meantime- this contest remains open. David has done the grunt work (and if he does not win, he will get one sticker as a runner-up prize for his impressive showing here); if anyone swoops in before he does, spots his mistakes, corrects, and posts... they will win.
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga Oh man! He's off by one letter on a name.
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga ^^^ More than a letter, THREE letters, NONE of which were in the salad. Stoopid, stoopid mistake. WINGED!!!! LING!!!! Johnny Thunders, Jah Wobble, Winged Eel Fingerling, Helios Creed Happy?
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga Judges? YES, we have a winner. Goddamn, whatta cliffhanger... but you did it, D. Fine work and congrats! Yer stickers will be mailed soooooon..... Thank you all for playing!
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga Too funny, I smoked out with Helios a few times on his bus that he lived on in SF years ago. The records he did on Subterranean and AmRep were all great, but Superior Catholic Finger was my favorite.
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga ^Ha... he is a true freak, no? It's so weird how sometimes people can make something so crazy, so shatteringly original and artistically nuts, and then just... you know... play lame bar gigs for the rest of their lives... Actually, I guess it's not so weird... happens all the time. Those Chrome records changed my life, seriously...
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga I guess I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised that that many SBers have heard of Chrome...
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga I think all of them have posted in this thread. I still have my Chrome Box, in the late 80's I was a mission to get first prints of all the old records and it actually happened.
Re: Who likes Garamon? Who likes stickers? Contest time aga ^^^ I've still got my Chrome box, too - quite a prize! The fans may be few and far between around here, but hopefully everyone that peruses this thread will get curious and look into the matter! With all the noise and 'lectronics (not to mention retro electro) that folk seem to be enjoying these days I'm sure Chrome's SF skizz would fit nicely around many a boardies' head.
