I've been collecting a lot of different toys for twenty years or so, but my recent obsession has been with the vinyl stuff. I know it's not vinyl but, see also; This is just a fraction of what I've got. It's a start, I guess...
I like your Makoto Chans. Those are fun. By the way, who's the tuxedo and hat guy next to Cat boy? You have a close up?
That'd be Mephisto (or Mephist, or Mefist) and to the right of him would be his sidekick Denshi. I'll put some close up photos later as I have to go to work now. They are pretty cool little figures!
cool stuff. ever time I see an AD&D figure it makes me want to start tracking them down. And that Kraken is very nice.
i'm kind of digging that the ben grimm behind the werewolf cop appears to be wearing a plush-like rock suit.
Thanks! As for the werewolf, I made that. I cut the head off of a 1/6 GiJoe at the jawline and built another head out of Magic Sculp resin, then painted and finished it out. I put it in a cop uniform on a lark. It is indeed an old Mego figure. I love the goofy charm of Mego, I've got a few.
Here they are. These guys are chogokin from Bandai back in 1989. Mephisto's head lights up and his eyes roll back when the button is pressed. With hat. Denshi-San. Denshi plays a haunting melody when you hold his jaw down. You can move his little arms so that he looks like he's playing the ocarina.
I got them very cheaply from a collector who was liquidating his collection a few years ago. I have not seen them anywhere else since then. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're rare, just that I haven't seen 'em. Good luck on your quest!
^^ i'm pretty sure both those two are from the show Akuma-kun about a small boy who summons demons and gets mixed up in the world of Yokai. Those two are Akuma-kun himself and Mephisto Junior . . . . The first episode of Akuma-kun is available on torrents with subtitles! Akuma-Kun by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr
This is true what you say! My info was bad. Akuma-kun means "devil-boy!" His name is Shingo Umoregi, and Akuma-Kun was originally a yokai-inspired horror manga by Shigeru Mizuki (1966), creator of GeGeGe no Kitaro. There are lots of (non-subtitled) videos on youtube. Thanks for setting the record straight, I had a very entertaining afternoon.
^^ no problemo. I'm only just recently finding out about Akuma-kun myself - there is a live TV show from the mid 60's and an Anime from 1989-90. I wish the whole run of the Anime was available with subtitles - i found the 1st ep with subs and it was really really cool. Chock full of spooky Yokai goodness with great animation . . . Of course needless to say i would love an english translation of the Manga - but if nobody has published an English GeGeGe No Kitaro yet there is little chance of Akuma-kun being done. There are some scanlations online of Kitaro though so here's hoping
Hey guys. So, I promised myself that after new years eve I would slow down collecting just for a little bit so I could re-focus my savings towards finding a new place to live. It took a month more to tie up some final trades and purchases and I'm still waiting on several pre orders, but here it is: 7 months of collecting, hangouts, cons, and hunting: I've already added a few new ones to the cluttered shelves . They're cluttered because I'm in a transition period. I'm terrible with a camera, but someday soon I can add some extra photos if you want.
Thanks guys, yeah, it was definitely a whole lot of commitment. And I have this board to thank, so much, for helping me out all the time.
Well you've defenitly made the most of the last 7 months! Both top and bottom shelves are killer and oh so many grails in one pic!
