That's what I post when I'm called an idiot! You would think I posted the URL. The actual market for the Maza is very small, and all of us check the appropriate places almost daily. I was correct to use the board to get information on a toy that I collect, prior to bidding or not. The reaction, again, brings more heat and attention.

Further words directed personally at me will be met with 2X. Do we really want to go that path?

I miss the old days when the board seemingly cared more about information and less about acquisition. If what Brian wrote is true, everyone will eventually have a Maza who wants one. I would prefer that rather than fighting over expensive crumbs.

The information you're after exists in the first post of this thread! Maybe try doing a little homework rather than referencing a live auction to get the information your after.

Ok, I'm ready to be met with 2X.

Pretty soon the mods are going to treat Maza/Mother/Disc Monster like snickers or d*nny! and block them...

You guys caught me on a flu day. Actually, I probably would not have recognized it. I just assumed it was something new. You remember what assuming does, right?

I think the best way to go on ANY auction is: basically if it's not over don't post info about it at ALL. If you have a question about year, make, model etc, ask someone here via PM. PM'ing basically will get your question answered without alerting the world about said auction. I know I've pm'd Tim or Daniel about things in the past and they were more than happy to fill me in. Posting about it, especially if you're going to bid on it, is like shooting yourself in the foot. It might seem petty and trite, but when you think about it ANY advantage, however slight, could be the difference between paying an extra 100 here or there in an auction. Sure the whole world could know about it but people get caught up in their lives, forget to bid etc etc.

That's where people get touchy here. It's not that they're trying to stop information from spreading, it's just they would appreciate a chance at not having to break the bank, even if they know they probably will have to. More people knowing basically dwindles that percentage.

Also skullbrain is your friend, search does lead to answers to most questions. We nerds are as completist with our talks as we are with figures.

I know I'm a comparative n00b compared to the rest of y'all...but am I the only one who considers "house rules" as being set in stone?

I mean, you guys are all presenting fine arguments, based on logic, for and against DYBBUKIM posting a reference to the live auction. But the way I look at it, this ain't my house. I don't live here. Brian lets us chill here, thus, I play by the rules. To me, it seems to be more an issue of respect than anything else.

Then again, maybe I'm just crazy!

Technically then he didnt break the rules then did he? he just discussed a live auction as opposed to posting links? Or dot he rules state no discussion whatsoever of live auctions?

I have my own personal "ethics" on it: If it's not over, just don't mention it. It might not actually hurt the people bidding on it's chances, but why risk that and potentially screw them? I'm not commenting on the current situation or the parties involved, just my overall opinion/stance on it.

If you have a question, maybe PM a few folks you know here who are keen on the subject, they probably know about the auction and know what the deal is.

    Re: Zollmen Database- updated 4/24/09

I remember way back in the day SB'ers wouldn't compete for the same piece, i.e. first to find it gets first crack at it and then the price doesn't go way up via fellow SB'ers. But at some point some folks said, "F' that! If I want it I want it. It is a competitive hobby." Which is fair and true but that seems to somewhat fly in the face of not posting links. I personally don't think posting links is good for community rapport. But cutting the legs out from under a fellow SB'er in a last second bid doesn't seem any better. But in all honesty the notion of a collecting "community" is pretty tenuous when it comes to people and limited edition anything...

You're flogging a dead horse. Its not like there are bans handed out for this. You posted a link to a live auction I was high bidder on once so you're well aware there are no official ramifications.

I did get a few PMs about you being an asshole for doing it, the people who sent them have the ability to fill wants and have hooked me up on real grails. I doubt they'd help you though.

You might actually hurt yourself by alienating collectors with deep collections. But trying to cost them money seems to get you off so whatever.

If I were to part with certain things you've said you'd trade everything you have for I'd rather sell them to someone else at a loss.

Ultimately obeying the rules is your decision. If you think you found a loophole that makes it ok then keep it up.

    You reap what you sow.

    LOL at the park police.

I leant my lesson and dont intend to post live links ever again, that was a genuine mistake last time. In all honesty this isnt really somthing that interests me- Zollmen is the new hype, their toys are awesome but are currently out of my price range however they will stabilise and become cheaper and Im happy to buy then.

Its people like you with more money than sense that cause the prices to sky rocket, not the fact that people know about the auction or not- it is amusing to watch you get stressed every time someone mentions YJA though, like a mall cop or somthing.

My previous posts were mearly playing devils advorcate- I really dont care, rules are rules and thats good enough for me. As I said, last time it was ignorance not intention.

However you have no authority Krudler, so next time someone posts a link dont get involved leave it to the mods. I bet they have no space in their inboxs from your complaints and tip-offs about people breaking the rules.

And your authority to tell me what to do stems from?

I'll do what I want unless it violates the rules, I hear from a mod, or someone I respect requests that I stop.

The key word there is respect. I only have contempt for you Samba.

although you may think posting or hinting at auctions doesn't effect the final price of a toy, most likely you're right. I don't care what sort of rationale you use... please don't do it. most of this community is fucking psycho like me, and when you see someone post an auction you want... paranoia sets in and the anger begins to burn inside. so stop pissing us off!! if you don't know what it is at the time of the auction, i don't want you to own it. did i mention i'm coo coo?

I'm in a really bad mood atm having just spent my morning looking at a recently mutilated left hand including an amputated index finger and not being able to do much for the guy until a bit of time has passed.

I'd probably be less pissy if I had been expecting it.

I had actually stopped caring about that link btw. I'm mainly mad about stuff unrelated to toys right now
