Post Re: The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread
Finally got my crap shipped from Japan. Quite a long time's worth of accumulation. Here is one item I thought I would share, and I need assistance identifying it. I am not a collector of this style of toy, but this one really caught my eye, from the great colors to the classic Japanese Oni style face. I believe its a one-off from an older show (possibly around February 2011). Any help as to maker, name of toy, show its from, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I can post the markings on the feet if needed, but I'm sure many here can probably ID the figure easily. Thanks in advance.

That is the Orochi-Oni by Yamazakura. Hmm, that one looks very familiar, although I can't recall the show offhand. I'll check.

Very distinctive paint work, and it is interesting that he included the 'limited one' card. Great score.

I will soon know this feeling, I've been holding stuff with my agent for about a year and a half. It's gonna be huuuuuge.

Great figure too, my fav version.

I applaud your guys' patience. I'd be ripping my hair out. I can easily wait for something to come up for the right price, but once I've purchased it I go nuts with anticipating its arrival. Tip of the hat to you both!

I've seen the Aqua Man Orochi-Oni. Pretty awesome little dude in person. The header art is frame worthy.

I would really love this version.

I'm absolutely loving him, just delighted from the moment I took him outta the box. The red just hits all the right spots in just the right amounts. The way I lit this photo makes it appear as orange, with a light and dark, flame-like variance, but in person all of that is a pretty uniform, true red. I should take a pic in natural light for comparison.

This figure was displayed at Wonderfestival in July 2010, marked as 'for sale soon'. Shortly afterward, Yamazakura stopped producing new figures. While I can't find any release information on this one, he may have just sold the paint test or given it away as a gift. It is probably one of the last figures produced by Yamazakura, making it a pretty special item.

Thanks so much for the info. Cool to hear. The seller had another similar figure (the one without the horns) in a different colorway at the same time, but since this is not my usual area of collecting, I just stuck with this one. Unfortunately, the photo is no longer up, so I can't share it.

Yeah, the Slash MGs are really something. Excellent proportions, cool expression, fantastic colours, plenty of sculpt detail. I really love some of the classic painting schemes, e.g. Bullmark and Popy, but the others are excellent too. I definitely need to find some GID vinyl dudes to see in person what they look like glowing.
