I haven't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if Caina has been posted. Excellent post BM though. I'd check out Temporary Antennae, one of my favorite BM albums and if you like that then check out Some People Fall, which is way darker.
He also has the most upbeat song I've ever heard on a BM album:
Also anyone heard the new Lantlos singe? Thoughts??

No love for Dominus or am I pushing the envelope with that a bit? lol It was the origins of Volbeat after all which I know is NOT black metal by far lol

Oh nooooo - not Panopticon Seriously, I tried really hard to get into his stuff but the metal parts don't do it for me. ZZZzzZZZzzz The bluegrass in it is well done and I can only wish some southern USBM band incorporate these elements fluidly in the future.
One of my favorite band use banjo that fits in well in BM, I think :
Not black metal related but slaying :

Re: Black Metal
ok...first of all, that Steve'n'Seagulls video is so god damned incredible I can hardly stand it.
But we will have to agree to disagree about Panopticon. I love the metal parts, I love the bluegrass parts, and I love how they blend together.
Never heard Lugubrum before....that first track is something I really liked. Sparse use of the banjo just as something creepy in the background sounds great!

Re: Black Metal
Finally picked this up on the ox blood red vinyl re-issue. Been listening to it over and over....gotta love 25 minute black metal songs with witches laughing in the background.
