Post Mac heads, question
I'm running 10.5.5 (Leopard? i think)

Is it safe to delete the OS9 applications which I've never used in all my years of owning a mac. I am afraid this might mess up some compatibility issues, though I'm not savvy enough to think about where.

I don't use any of these apps and am looking to free up some HD space for other things. advice?

It shouldn't be an issue. Are they programs you have installed yourself?

Mac does their OS a lot different than Windows. You generally don't get those problems with crucial extensions being deleted. I'm no expert but I've had my Mac for a LONG time and haven't had any issues in this type of situation.

Definitely get rid of OS 9. Been a mac owner for almost 10 years and I can't recall the last time I had to use it. Not since OS X.

I'm not 100% certain, but i think there are some legacy apps that still rely on some OS 9 carbon libraries, but deleting OS 9 apps shouldn't affect those. Those apps are few and far between anymore.

Dump the OS 9 apps in the applications folder.
But don't go messing around in the library folders cause things get more complicated there.

Also keep in mind that when you buy a new Mac with Intel chips, OS 9 apps won't even run on it.
OS 9 and OS 9 apps are history. Software designed for Intel Macs (not PowerPC) is the future.
