 Mac heads, question I'm running 10.5.5 (Leopard? i think)
Is it safe to delete the OS9 applications which I've never used in all my years of owning a mac. I am afraid this might mess up some compatibility issues, though I'm not savvy enough to think about where.
I don't use any of these apps and am looking to free up some HD space for other things. advice?

Re: Mac heads, question It shouldn't be an issue. Are they programs you have installed yourself?
Mac does their OS a lot different than Windows. You generally don't get those problems with crucial extensions being deleted. I'm no expert but I've had my Mac for a LONG time and haven't had any issues in this type of situation.

Re: Mac heads, question Definitely get rid of OS 9. Been a mac owner for almost 10 years and I can't recall the last time I had to use it. Not since OS X.

Re: Mac heads, question I'm not 100% certain, but i think there are some legacy apps that still rely on some OS 9 carbon libraries, but deleting OS 9 apps shouldn't affect those. Those apps are few and far between anymore.

Re: Mac heads, question Dump the OS 9 apps in the applications folder.
But don't go messing around in the library folders cause things get more complicated there.
Also keep in mind that when you buy a new Mac with Intel chips, OS 9 apps won't even run on it.
OS 9 and OS 9 apps are history. Software designed for Intel Macs (not PowerPC) is the future.
