As much as I disagree with soon to be ex-Pres Bush, he is our president and he represents our country. I think it is totally wrong to wish that he actually got hit. My sister, who served in the Iraq War, and many of her fellow soldiers feel humiliated and disrespected that US citizens would actually wish their commander-in-chief harm.

Blind loyalty is wrong.

I just watched in on youtube ..how funny was it... In the movies they dive for cover and shit but by the 2nd shoe he was like aah I'll just prop my hand up that should do it. Fuckin larf!! That was the funniest thing Ive ever seen that dipshit do.

True, Bush is not Hitler, and while this was entertaining, it was the wrong thing to do. In America, this would be considered assault.

Hundreds of thousands of people died due to actions taken by the Bush administration, and some of you think it was "wrong" to throw a shoe at the guy. I only wish it was a grenade.

I find it interesting that so many people fail to understand the symbolism behind the shoe throwing. Shoes are unclean because they come in contact with the dirt. (The same reason that it is considered very rude to show the soles of your shoes when you sit.) Throwing a shoe isn't just a random act, it is a very specific insult.

The identity or significance of the object being thrown at the president isn't really as important or compelling as the fact that an object was thrown at the president. Wouldn't you agree?

Actually, the first thing I thought of was Khrushchev. And it doesn't really seem like a winning strategy. After you throw your shoe, then you're just down to socks or bare feet, and you're forced to walk around in the dirty stuff that the shoes were protecting you from.

You can't get away as fast, either. Probably best to pack a spare shoe or two and throw those. ;p

To us, maybe, but not in Iraqi culture. Throwing shoes has a very different connotation than throwing something else, like a cell phone (to pick a random other item the person might have had with him). You might compare it to the difference between throwing shit and throwing a pie.

Both are funny, though!
