 Shoe Bush
"This is your going away present, you son of a dog!" an Iraqi TV reporter shouted at George W Bush, launching both his shoes and an internet phenomenon at the same time. I've been tossing for England all day! Some of my favorites: 'Sock And Awe' at http://www.sockandawe.com/ (Classic 'Mole Hammer'/shooting gallery style game). The self-explanatory 'Bush Shoe Throwing Game' at http://bushbash.flashgressive.de/ (Wow though! It's just like actually BEING THERE!!!). And 'Bye Bye Bush' at http://www.readyaimvote.com/byebyebush/ is just plain cute. For the Republicans there's: 'Flying Babush' at http://blog.zanorg.com/index.php?perm=370where you can be the prez, dodging the shoes (though he still ends up getting a boot in his face, whatever you do. Haha.) Or the UK's slightly sinister contribution 'Bush's Boot Camp' at http://www.t-enterprise.co.uk/flashgame ... shbootcampwhere you play Secret Servicemen trying to blast the shoes out of Bush's path without shooting him ... 'Betcha can't! There are plenty more too. Just google 'bush shoe(s) game'. And, oh yeah, that gif is probably copyright printmeister @ b3ta.com or something, so don't copy it, OK?

 Re: Shoe Bush
Yeah, I was really impressed at both the guy's aim and Bush's dodging skills. As if they'd both practiced this... (cue conspiracy theories)
This event is up there with when Bush's dad threw up in the Japanese prime minister's lap.

The dude got so close.
He was definately correcting his aim.
I wish he had three feet.

 Re: Shoe Bush
I do wonder if this will be something that haunts him in his retirement. You know: people casually throwing footwear at him wherever he goes. It might even become some kind of new national sport.

 Re: Shoe Bush
As much as I disagree with soon to be ex-Pres Bush, he is our president and he represents our country. I think it is totally wrong to wish that he actually got hit. My sister, who served in the Iraq War, and many of her fellow soldiers feel humiliated and disrespected that US citizens would actually wish their commander-in-chief harm.

Hitler was the commander-in-chief to the Nazis. Someone should have thrown a shoe or two at him.

However illegal the war may have been, Iraqis now live in a society where they can throw shoes at a world leader without the fear of death.

True, Bush is not Hitler, and while this was entertaining, it was the wrong thing to do. In America, this would be considered assault. Also, that guy isn't getting off so easy, I believe he's still in custody and his family is alleging they're torturing him.

 Re: Shoe Bush
Hundreds of thousands of people died due to actions taken by the Bush administration, and some of you think it was "wrong" to throw a shoe at the guy. I only wish it was a grenade.

The war in Iraq was wrong. Throwing a shoe at a world leader during a press conference is wrong. Throwing a grenade at a world leader during a press conference is wrong. It's possible to believe all of these things.

 Re: Shoe Bush
Jermaine Rogers' take on this is pretty interesting in the print he released today: http://jermainerogersshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=152I find it interesting that so many people fail to understand the symbolism behind the shoe throwing. Shoes are unclean because they come in contact with the dirt. (The same reason that it is considered very rude to show the soles of your shoes when you sit.) Throwing a shoe isn't just a random act, it is a very specific insult.

The identity or significance of the object being thrown at the president isn't really as important or compelling as the fact that an object was thrown at the president. Wouldn't you agree? Actually, the first thing I thought of was Khrushchev. And it doesn't really seem like a winning strategy. After you throw your shoe, then you're just down to socks or bare feet, and you're forced to walk around in the dirty stuff that the shoes were protecting you from. You can't get away as fast, either. Probably best to pack a spare shoe or two and throw those. ;p

To us, maybe, but not in Iraqi culture. Throwing shoes has a very different connotation than throwing something else, like a cell phone (to pick a random other item the person might have had with him). You might compare it to the difference between throwing shit and throwing a pie.
