Voting is interesting... you complain when your candidate loses, but you're always afraid they're going to screw up when they win.

When someone gripes about politics, I usually ask them if they vote. I think their credibility goes down a notch if I find out they didn't, but I encourage them to do it. Why complain about a system that you don't bother to participate in?

Since I was eligible I've voted for third-party presidential candidates except for the last election. Going backwards: Kerry, Nader, Browne, Perot. Yep, I'm one of those guys. ;p

If you don't vote you have no POWER at all. If you really want to change the direcion of our country you need to take it seriously and register to vote - NOW !!!

As far as Obama, I would vote for him in a heartbeat ! However, I think in the end what we really need is a DREAM TEAM ! I don't know if I can see a Obama - Clinton ticket. I tend to think Clinton has her very own agenda and I need to hear more from her. But I could see something like a Obama - Edwards ticket . In my opinion, it's going to be very important that the Democrats show REAL teamwork more than ever.

Now as far as Codasleeza Rice goes, well I can't even say what comes to my mind

I am in for an Obama/Edwards ticket! That would Rock! Edwards makes alot of sense, you just need to listen to him talk. Don't buy the "Corporate Laywer" BS. Do some rearch on him and find out for yourself.

I agree DT, I have been paying attention to both of these men and they really seem like they could be a great combination. Kinda like having real politicians that work for the good of the PEOPLE !

The big hurdle will be for the Democratic Party to allow someone on the ticket who is not just the result of polls and their interpretation of 'status quo'. Obama seems to take a stand without the help of advisors whispering in his ear what position is popular.

I really appreciate the lack of arguing in this thread. I mean we all don't agree, and yet no one is calling each other an idiot. Most boards I've been on in the past, if you didn't go along with the popular opinion, than you were some nazi flag waving jagg and got burned. Very cool attitude in here though. The way it should be.

Yeah anyway, I still don't trust him, or any politician, the more trust worthy they seem the more the seem to hide. I know it's kind of a poor outlook, but growing up in Chicago, aka "the most corrupt city on earth" in my opinion, you stop trusting your leaders. But shouldn't they all be questioned? I still vote, because I feel it's an important process, but usually for whoever I think SNL will make fun of better, or who has a funny name, rarely will I vote for someone because I agree with their policies, but it's happened.

I'm with you Ramos. I'm pretty anti-voting and I always get shit for it by all my friends and aquaintances that are like "you're throwing away your voice!" and all those trite remarks that people have about voting. I think that's all bullshit and that my supposed "voice" doesn't really count worth a damn anyway.

and as you stated, I usually think both sides are liars, and I'd rather not put my name behind someone if I don't believe in what they're saying. I don't believe in the picking the lesser of 2 evils system of voting.

I never voted until this past election, and I wasn't even all that for Kerry, who I voted for, but I was just so disgusted with Bush that I voted against him.

he still won, and then I got called for jury duty. just goes to show you what you get from voting.

most people think it doesn't count, but your vote really does, especially in local elections.

haha...i know...it's cool we all have different views on politics though. it's good to debate about stuff, and of course i do listen to friends complain but i try to encourage people to vote.
i grew up in a very politically liberal household, and participated in a lot of those fun marches back in the early 90s against daddy bush so i am always heated come election time.I would love to see obama run.
I had the pleasure of being in the audience at the DNC in 2004 for his speech (and right after met michael moore hehe) and he really has a great presence and crowd control.

Skylar, FYI, our states don't just use the voter registration lists to select potential jurors, they also use the list of driver's license holders.
