 significance of the year 1962?
something I've been wondering about for a while, and figured that someone here probably knows the answer to, is whether or not there was any certain significance to the year 1962 as relating to the color gold?
I've seen several Godzilla toys, always the 1962 sculpt, that come in an all gold color. I believe most of them are Marmits, so maybe it's just a company thing, but as I said it's always that one particular year.
anyone know the reason why?

It's not because anything to do with the year. It's just that the 1962 Godzilla movie (King Kong vs. Godzilla) was the most popular Godzilla movie of all, and toys of that Godzilla are especially desirable to fans. But that's not the only gold colored Godzilla toy. Marmit produced a gold 1964 Godzilla at the end of 2005. There's a good picture of it on Club Tokyo:

There are a few other monsters that have been released in all gold color. Don't know why it's so few though.
