The bigger one is from Nitto, 1968.

The little guy is an homage by TOMY, it's a candy toy.

Fantastic Vintage GeGeGe No Kitaro figure. I have some old Bandai buried in my attic,
but not that vintage. Very impressive figure!

This version of Abura-Sumashi is actually based on the 1968 Daiei movie series, Yokai Monsters. A few of the other characters from the movie series were also made.

Of course, ultimately the characters from the movie were based on the drawings of Shigeru Mizuki, the creator of GeGeGe No Kitaro, and leading authority on Yokai myths.

Thanks for the nice words. I've been hunting this guy down for a while, so it's great to finally have him on my shelf. It's my first true vintage piece.

WOW! What a great figure to be your first vintage piece. I love the old Yokai Movies, I was just considering buying "The Great Yokai War" DVD which Shigeru Mizuki makes a cameo appearance in, and there are some extras about him on it as well. Thanks for sharing that wonderful find.
