Having madballs as a kid is probably why we like the dogs (and madball mantis) now. They ruled!

Indeed, they ruled... and I do love the design of the Obake. I just question the originality of it.

nothing original at all! Just a send up to rad old toys. this has all been disccussed before about obake dog, someone even posted the exact toy this is based on. it looked like a snoopy body with a zombie head.

I don't think it's meant to be original, but maybe more in the line of honoring a classic. I know Hiddy loves Snoopy and that's where the body comes from so maybe he loved those mad balls also??

That's the thing with SB etc. It's about new ideas with a nod to the past. Old school toys, movies, music etc. all comes into the mix. SB are toys. Pure and simple. They don't pretend to be anything but. It might just be a colourway, or it could be a whole sculpt, but lots of little things come into play.

I love them! I think the obake dog kind of looks like a mix of Slobulus and Dustbrain and the Madball Mantis looks like Aargh and Skullface. I wish there was an Aargh Head popper.

This was the toy that the obake dog reminded me of. I agree with the Dustbrain/Slobulus hybrid completely - I think that's exactly what they were going for.

BTW Ramos, did you ever get the new Madballs in? I've been looking for them, but no luck.

I NEED THAT TOY ZOMBOID POSTED. so killer. anyone sees one loose or bagged, let me know.
My Madballs order got canceled from Diamond. I am not sure why, but it looks like they got cancelled. I am still waiting to hear back from them about why it was canceled.

Crap, I had nearly all the original Madballs - unearthed them from my parent's attic last summer to find they had all sort of "melted" together...completely ruined!

I have a horror story, I had all the original Madballs still carded when I lived in Hayes Valley in SF a few years ago. I was moving and they were all in a huge box and I set the box down in the foyer of my building and ran back up to my apartment and when I came back a few seconds later, gone. I am still so bummed I never bothered to try and collect them again.

I chewed on all my Mad Balls (easily taken out of context) but I still have my VHS copy of the cartoon show!

If it makes you feel any better, I bought a couple of carded Madballs and notice they seemed to be damage in shipping. I knew the seller, so I know they weren't that way when shipped. Anyway, I took them out of the packages, and apparently something about being sealed for 20 years changed their composition to that of burnt-up charcoal. They just crumbled at the slightest touch. The ones I have had out in the open since they were made are just fine.

Exactly what happened to my collection, though they were out of the bags, inside boxes. Maybe they needed to breathe or something...I guess there's something to be said for busting open the seal and enjoying the stuff!

Crayla, thanks for sharing in the bummerness with me. That really sucks about them falling apart! I know I would have never opened them because the cards were so cool. I feel better now, maybe I will buy some loose ones!!!
I wonder about the vinyl toys too, I have been opening all the ones I really like as I have been worried about them getting funky in the bags. I would open them all but I just dont have the space in my rabbit hutch right now. I see many vintage ones in the bag and for the most part they look fine but the vinyl formula has changed since then. I have no idea about the new ones lasting that long. Scary!
