Bit by the Cronic bug - that bite will start to sting when you try to track those buggers down! I love 'em too, brother...

I think the dorogamis are a bit easier to find (well, at least easier than the ones I've been after) - did you score that 3-piece auction on YJA? Those looked killer...

Actually it seems doros are harder to find. Some NEVER pop up.

I've seen a few solid color cronics that were screaming for custom work (hint, hint)...

2 handpainted Cronic figures on YJA right now. I own one just like the one's listed and must say the paint is HOT when you look at it up close, all swirly :) I'll post pics of my Cronic guys when they all turn up, I've got a few doro's now thanks to Andy and some other sources. Tough bastards to track down though!

LASH, I wish I had a blank to get customized by you, your stuff is awesome, I will have to work on that :D

Just saw those handpaints before reading this - they're fantastic! My connection in Japan always bids on cronic items so if I want any YJA scores I'll have to find someone else over there to bid for me

The anniversary figure (yellow with the black removable helmet) is what made me think of LASH doing a custom cronic - they made it with a very bland solid yellow for some reason. A perfect figure to be customized, especially with the cool helmet...

Well, that would be a very expensive custom, since that set is in the $100+ range.

At this stage, I think Cronic's figures are too scarce to grab and customize. Most are made in really small runs of 10-20 pieces (many are runs of 5 or less, in fact). Also, unlike other toy makers, he has released very few blank figures. I say wait a while until he issues more blanks before thinking about customizing anything.

That clear one is great. I am not as big of a fan of the painted ones.

More than half of all Doros are clear vinyl. They just don't show up well in pics unless the right lighting conditions are used. Same goes for many Cronic pieces, actually. Pics rarely do them justice.

Wow, I had no idea they were that low of a run. Still, I don't think the production size is any reason to customize or not - it's not a tragedy if an edition of 5 becomes an edition of 4 because someone had a great idea for a custom job. I don't have a problem paying $200+ for a custom if it's going to look killer, and I find solid one-color pieces a bit boring. Still, it seems finding the pieces is the main obstacle at this point anyway...

That's pretty lame.

Because if I was someone that was trying to buiild as complete a collection as possible of a certain figure and I found out someone painted over 1 of 5 I would be pissed.

That's pretty lame actually. Selfish to the point of saying "you can't do this with your toys because I may want one".

Besides, there's probably only 1 Cronic completist on the planet, and that would be Naoki Koiwa. Who knows if he even has everything he's made?

Fuck that, I don't particularly care when it comes to Cronic because I don't collect it, but if it was Secret Base I would be pissed, painting over a 1 in 5 toy is just fucked up.

I have to agree I could never do a 1-5 figure. That would just be wrong.
