I wonder if Hiddy has accurate records at this point especially if you consider all the variants on Fan club bonus figures and the crank bee's.

for such a popular series of toys ...not maintaining a database is odd.
even the S7 mag spread was uncomplete at the time.
a SB 'bible' would not only act as a guide but would insure valuation in the future.

Glenn, I have to disagree (in a friendly way) on 20+ variants a month. I'm pretty much managing to keep up on everything fight figure sized released by SB and I am not getting anywhere near that many figures - I'd be living in a gutter if I was ...errr...hang on, whats that floating last me...
For things like Crank bees, brains and Mantii, and points card one-offs I am counting these as one of each...as not even unlimited budget is going to score you every Crank release...and its cool for as many poeple as possible to have one.
A database of all releases by SB would be a boon for a lot of us, myself included. It is getting very difficult to keep up.
Frank, as someone who was the ultimate SB completisit until u sold it to buy that bike, what's firing you up on finding out about all teh variants now?

I am super curious myslef. From a collecting POV, SB is my #1. It eclipsed Henshin Cyborg for me quite sometime ago.
I recall last year you mentioned several times about a collab you were working on with SB - is that still in the works?

Frank Kozik wrote: what about the cow head ones.? do they count as SB or Balzac? also..does SB make the skullmen or is that a Balzac produced figue?
The cow head ones (SkullMerry's) are Balzac. The Skullman (which the SkullMerry is based, obviously) was something that Balzac came up with (and went to Hiddy to get produced), but the Bagman (SkullBBB) was a collaboration idea of Hiddy's to do with Balzac. The Balzac Obake was Hiddy's idea, and asked Balzac to do the collaboration.
I would specify all these figures as 'Secret Base', but the Skullmen don't have the Secret Base footstamp (just says Balzac/Evilegend13). It seems really difficult to classify what is Balzac sometimes. Though, after talking to Hirosuke, any of the Bagmen (SkullBBB) that do not have the Balzac skullface are NOT Balzac. So, the blue one, the masked rangers (or whatever they are), etc are not Balzacs. I am sure of this because Balzac never recieved any royalties for them.

2. Black version S7 halloween exclusive (October 2005)
3. Black unpainted prototype Japan only coupon redemption from Halloween set (Oct 2005)
4. Blue version (November 2005)
5. Blue version with blood (November 2005)
6. Grey version with pink (Valentine's Day 2006)
7. Pink version with grey (White Day 2006)

That all black Madball Mantis is my holy grail right now. I think I've seen them for sale maybe twice and I know one of them Lapin snagged. You must have been the other...
Such a nice collection

This is great info...I always wondered how you could not count the bagmen with skullbrain heads as balzac figures, but if they didn't get any royalties for these figures, then it makes sense to me.

I just picked up an all GID Frankenghost. Anyone know how many variants and the production run on each of them? I haven't seen too many around. Hard to find?

On my first read through of this, my brain registered all GID GHOSTFIGHTER, and I was thinking---you lucky bastard!!!
There are four variants on Frankenghost now, not counting custom versions...the all GID (SDCC'06), regular color, GNO GID/Orange, and GNO bonus Black/Orange. I really like the Frankenghost design (especially articulated wrists), but I love the Ghostfighter! Two heads are always better than one!
