under them? These are "bronze" one-offs of the originals - altho I think they maybe resin given a bronzed look - they look pretty cool.

Yep, creepy.
Almost looks like they're in a glass coffin or tomb.

Fantastic paintings, all of them, but Robert Williams has to be my all time favorite.

I gotta' bring this thread back from the dead...

The LongGoneJohn dvd was on sale at comicon but I forgot to pick it up. Luckily skullbrainer/laskhead blashyrkh snagged a bunch for his video store. Just watched the dvd this week and it's excellent, very in depth about LGJ's life and how/why he collects. It also features a lot of the l.a. lowbrow art scenesters as well as Super7 and Frank Kozik!! The bonus features alone are awesome -- nearly a year long time-lapse of todd schorr painting a LGJ commission, and an extensive video tour of LGJ's house/collection. Coincidentally LGJ happened to walk into blashyrkh's video store last night while we were discussing the movie!! No lie.

Anyway, you can get the dvd from blashyrkh at an rfso price (pm if interested):
http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/profile.ph ... ofile&u=94

And you can also get it from the official website: http://www.thetreasuresoflonggonejohn.com/news.html

If any lask-heads want to borrow my copy lmk, but you will definitely want it for your collection.

I love the Rushton figures in the coffin display. (these are who many of the plush bodied/rubber faced toys you were talking about were manufactured by-mostly 1950s & 1960s toys, often meant for babies.) I feel like I would have so much in common with this dude. :) I love this house so much, and can't wait to see the dvd! I want all of his stuff!

Ok, I watched this last night and absolutely LOVE it. I identify so much with LGJ its incredible. I fear that I will one day become an old woman buried in a house of amazing shit...

maybe someday i'll be able to charge admission. I can't recommend this enough. Its not really a toy documentary, not really a punk documentary, not really an art documentary...but it is all these things.

check it out if you can.

Damn...I still havent seen this !....but I did get a tour of Thee Casa a couple years ago.
I have never seen so many toys, art and off the wall shit in one house...but the spinning bookcase and the "secret" room of obscure 45's was the Best....love him or hate him John is a Genius of a Freak.
