 Totally metal or totally retarted?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/baby_metallica
It's almost cool, than I realize 2 actual human beings want to name their baby Metallica. I hope they do. And I hope she grows up and re-names herself Megadeth to spite them.

Sweden enjoys a very high standard of living in general, but aren't you glad that we don't have "lumpen" (compulsary military service) or that we don't need the IRS's permission to name our children as we see fit in the USA? At least the couple didn't want to name their baby "Skrewdriver."
Thank you Sweden for the Detolf 'though.

Yeah, my wife asked me "would it be right to prohibit what you name a kid" and I guess it wouldn't, even if it is something as metaltarted as Metallica.

Someone I know in the medical billing business showed me an actual form with the names of twin boys on it. One was named Oranjello and the other was named Lemonjello.
Who could possibly be that into Jello?

I remember during the early '70s, there were all these stories about African American parents naming their children "Kunta Kinte" and "Kizzy" after characters in the TV drama "Roots." If that was true, I haven't met anyone with those names, now that they'd be old enough to meet.
Although the name isn't unusual as a first or last name, I once knew a Thomas Thomas who was furious at his parents for giving him their last name as his first.. The teasing never stopped.
I once met a German guy whose name was Sieman Manhard. Yeah, pronouced like that. Poor guy heard no end of the jokes in the Anglophone world.
Pfft. "Metallica." I'm all for the couple's right to give their child that name, but c'mon. I once knew a guy whose parents had named him "America." Imagine trying to live with that ... but Metallica? That will almost certainly yield one twisted sister.
