I just pulled out this Q-Bert mix for the first time in years - damn this is fun music! The Rush intro is simply amazing, and some really great breaks and fun samples are used throughout.

His best work if you ask me. "Wave Twisters" was slicker, but I like the rawness of "Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze." It still has that messy/crazy Skratch Picklz sound. Reminds me of the turntablist heyday.

Yeah - I think it sounds so much better than most of the other turntablist stuff that came on strong in the late 90s. The breaks really shine on this, rather than just being all about the scratching. Much more musical and fun than most of the other stuff in the genre.

Well said. I don't remember the title at the moment, but that's why I liked that almost all-percussion EP that Mixmaster Mike did at one point. He'd clearly picked up some rhythmic sensibility from scratching, but scratching was not the point of the music. Now you hear scratching added like some quickie adornment to all kinds of pop music. It wouldn't surprise me if Madonna's producer adds "scratching" sounds to her tracks now. Oh well, it was a great moment while it lasted.

i can't think of the name either, but i love that album - used to listen to to it everyday. i love mixmaster mike, seen him more times than i can count.
