Post Gossip Bit My Bum
I stole this pic, but I wish I had taken it.

Image

All three of these kerr-azey people were spotted at the Troubadour on Saturday night, for the AMAZING Gossip Show. .... just wish I knew who they were. Rumour was Pete Doherty was there as well, but I think it was a look-alike...

It was dead funny (honest) cos some wag set the timing on the crossing lights so that when the man said walk, then teh oncoming lights hit green - causing hilarious automobile Vs body incidents. Trying to get across the road with us was Tracy Turnblatt from Hairspray, or so I thought...until I later saw her on stage fronting the GOSSIP. ooops, turned out Tracey was really Beth Ditto, running REALLY late for her own show.

Stay tuned for some phat (<wince>) concert pics that I may well upload tonight. Great show, highlighting just what a lot can be done with drums, guitar, no bass AND a KILLER VOCAL! It inspired me to form a band with no instruments AND a crap vocalist. Stay tuned for that as well.

Not that big yet, as the show was at the Troubadour her in LA, capacity maybe 400, and altho sold out - it was a slow burn sell out.

I'm a bit of a Jonny-cum-lately (mmm, that sounds nasty), as this is teh first time I've seen 'em. Rabid audience too! Noticed Kate Moss was headbanging furiously. I was dancing uncontrollably - not pretty!

kate's a poseur!!!!!

as for beth ditto,,i reckon she is the real deal...

months ago,,she was voted the top of the cool list for NME (whatever that means!!)...H&M wanted them to perform on oxford street & she refused over their skinny-only sizing for women's clothing...pretty honourable to take a stand i reckon...

the band has a good energy..i saw them at the mean fiddler (a small venue) around september..although they have been playing much bigger venues since..

oh, its just my round-about way of chatting about seeing a great band (the Gossip) on Saturday night, and whetting peoples (ok, person's) appetite for some gig shots if I get my ass in gear and load 'em. Maybe u would prefer to see my pics of the Sword from the same venue a few weeks earlier?

Would love to see some show pics Carl!

I am so behind on music, it's ridiculous...I have no idea what's going on anymore. BUT, due purely to Carl's rave review, I picked up the Sword LP and loved it!

The gossip are great!

I met Beth in the elevator of the Hilton at SxSW last year at like 3 in the morning. She's very nice, and it was good taht I had researched them beforehand because I recognized her adn she loved it.

They're playing the tour that Human Rights Campaign is sponsoring this summer. i expect they'll get a ton of exposure after that, and they'll be a lot bigger.
They just signed to a major I recall reading as well...good for them they deserve it!
:)

Thats RAD Zac - glad u like it! It's probably not hard enuf for the death metallers, but I love its speeded up retro feel - Motorhead meets Sabbath - great for me!

And Ed, cool meeting Beth, she seems pretty approachable.... she was stcuk geeting across teh same road we were, only we weren't sure it was her or not....oooops

I dig the SOULWAX remix for "standing in the way of control"
That's a great tune, much better than the original, imo.

everyone i ask about them says, "the lesbian band"...
I guess they are big among the lesbian crowd. Something about some lesbian sitcom they are on or something.
I' know nothing about them or ever seen any of the band members, just know the electro remix that kicks ass.

it's on iTunes.
