Post BIRTHDAY CONTEST
It's my birthday today and I'm gonna have a contest for all you skullbrainers.

This contest isn't gonna be easy, and it's gonna require a knowledge of pop culture or the use of google and creativity.

It's basically going to be a six degrees of separation game. Today is April 29th. I want you to connect some event, birthday, death, whatever that happened on this date to one of my favorite television shows.

For example: The Jeffersons
John Waters was born today. Divine was an actress/character in Waters' films. On the tv show SCTV, John Candy had a character inspired by Divine. Eugene Levy was also on SCTV and did Cheaper by the Dozen with Queen Latifah. Queen Latifah was on Fresh Prince of Bel Air, as was Sherman Helmsley who was George on the Jeffersons.

Since this may be tricky, I'm gonna list a few of my favorite tv shows. I will chose what i deem the absolute most clever path between april 29th and a tv show the winner.

The prize? I don't know. You blow my mind, you never know...

Favorite tv shows:
Northern Exposure
WKRP in Cinncinati
MASH
Hogan's Heroes
Three's Company
Monk

Again, it's not the shortest or longest amount of steps, it is the most clever steps.

Ok....this may be a little weak, but it's fun to try...

April 29th, 1986 - Roger Clemens becomes the 1st pitcher to strike out 20 batters in a nine-inning game.

The team from which he struck out those 20 batters that day was the Seattle Mariners.

One of the pitchers on that Mariners roster was Jim Beattie.

Beattie was with the Mariners in 1980 with another pitcher, Dave Heaverlo.

Dave Heaverlo was born in Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington.

Also in Kittitas County, Washington.....Roslyn, the city where "Northern Exposure" was filmed.

Oh yeah...Happy B-day!

In 1899 Duke Ellington was born on April 29. He had his shoes shined by Malcolm X at some point (according to Malcolm X in his autobiography). Malcolm X is mentioned in "Wake Up" by Rage Against the Machine and it is used in the soundtrack for the Matrix. Keanu Reeves from The Matrix was also in A Scanner Darkly which also stars Winona Ryder. One of Ryder's early movies was Beetlejuice, that had a soundtrack by Danny Elfman. Elman also did the soundtrack for Men In Black which has Tony Shalhoub as Jack Jeebs. Tony Shalhoub also plays Adrian Monk in "Monk".

Wow... sorry, I really got into it and almost forgot to wish you a happy birthday!

So here it is... Happy birthday!

In 1813, rubber is patented.
Vulcanization of rubber was discovered by Charles Goodyear.
Goodyear makes car tires,
In Mayberry, Andy Griffith's car had tires.
Barney (played by Don Knott's), liked to ride shotgun with Andy when not keeping Otis in line.
Don Knotts was on Three's Company!

It IS a small world full of amazing coincidences!!!!

Happy B-day!

Goodyears story is really sad, in the end he made like no money and the company "Goodyear" was a separate entity, he kinda got screwed....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

"Hair", the musical, premieres in NYC on April 29th 1968

Diane Keaton starred in "Hair", the musical, but didn’t appear nude in the musical's notorious first act finale.

Jack Nicholson starred with Diane Keaton in “Something’s Gotta Give”

Roman Polanski was convicted of statutory rape, a crime which took place on the Jack Nicholson estate on Mulholland Drive.

Johnny Depp starred in The Ninth Gate, which was directed by Roman Polanski, and had a bookstore scene where his whistle is the same as Hawkeye.

Hawkeye was a character played by Alan Alda, born Alfonso Joseph D'Abruzzo, in the television comedy M*A*S*H.

A stretch...but here's another one

One of the original air dates for the Golden Girls was April 29,1989.

Bea Arthur starred in “The Golden Girls”, and that show gave an unknown named Quentin Tarantino his start with a part as an Elvis impersonator.

Tarantino went on to direct movies, most recently “GrindHouse” starring Kurt Russell .

Kurt Russell is married to Goldie Hawn who started her career on a show called Laugh In, which also starred Richard Dawson.

Richard Dawson went on to star in Hogan’s Heroes

wow, this is a pretty close one. All the connections are super rad and you guys all did bring your a game (admittedly Biff's a game is clearly a little bit tricky ;)).

I have to say that that the winner has to be Burger Lord. First, Duke Ellington is one of my favorite American composers. Second, Burger's connections moved from music, to political to music to movies to music to movies to Tony Shalhoub. It really ran a cross-genre connection. Burger congrats; pm me your address...

I do have to say they were all awesome and this really made my birthday awesome. I'm really pleased to see that there are some smart people on skullbrain who really enjoy flexing their brains.
