They're re-releasing the Bone Pharaos and the Glow Pharaon. What do you guys think of this? Personally, I'm glad because it gives me a better chance of owning a figure that I wanted, the bone, at a much better price.

I don't collect these, but have mixed feelings about re-releases. On one hand it's cool, cause those of us who missed it get it easier, but on the other hand it just goes against the point of making limited run figures.

looks to me like there is a slight colour difference with the re-releases...

the new GID is a bit unsprayed on the hands & stomach...

the new bone seems to have more flat black colouring than the original...could be the lighting on the web pic...but it looks like there is not much or no silver spray on the legs & body...

very slight differences,,,atleast enough to tell the OGs apart from the newbies...

I agree with dr0ss, especially given that there are subtle differences that will differentiate from 1st and 2nd generation. For me, the pleasure of having the sculpt on my shelf is more satisfying than exclusivity or the prospect of a lucrative resell.

yes,,,i believe that re-releases should have slight differences...

i think it's stupid.. why are they making homages of their own figures? maybe they don't want people paying out the ass for their toys on the secondary market... but it sorta pisses me off since i already paid out the ass on secondary market. oh well... most everyone will miss out the second time around again anyways. i just wish they would spend time on making new colorways.

It's not just the pricing, reissues of limited run toys dilute the value and 'coolness' of having the original figure in your collection.

If they dont want them to be RARE and highly sought after /$$$ ................then make a huge 1st run that is flip-proof and we can all have em on the cheap .....but reissue= lame.

Last time they did this with the painted Yellow Damn...so lame ....coulda been a painted red,green,clear,blue,purple .........or Anything other than a release that is 99 % the same as last years version,still rare and hard to get but to reissue is stupid in this scene IMO.

no. i still hate... i don't see the logic of celebrating the 2 year anniversary of making a figure by making it again... I also think it would be lame if SB were to celebrate an anniversary by remaking greatest hits of their figures I don't have... spoils all the fun.

Sort of thing makes me seriously reconsider how much I'm willing to pay for "rare" Rumble Monster figures. Makes you wonder what they're going to reissue next....

That's one reason I quit Star Wars toy colelctiong years back, they always reissued the same junk, just a new card. It get's really annoying.

Maybe this is heresy from the collector's perspective, but ... maybe some toy companies don't care how cool or expensive their toys become after initial release, as they don't stand to profit from coolness or the aftermarket? A second run of a popular release, however, does fatten the bottom line.

i'll pay big $ for the damnedrons i'm looking for and not even care if they're reissued. yes, they reissued the painted yellow damnedron. seen lots of those around going for cheap recently? i didn't think so ...

Yes, reissues of popular, limited-run toys definitely strengthen the company's bottom line. And moreover, it helps out new collectors who were not in the market on the first go-round.

And no, RMs will never be cheap. The cheapest they will get is about $80 for the larger pieces. On the other hand, I doubt we will see the Bone Pharaos going for $200+ after this reissue.

I think the bottom line is that a positive spin on the reissue issue should be that this is not a kick in the balls to older collectors, but a good way to spread around great colorways to collectors who love the toy, but don't have the bucks to throw down for the originals.

That being said, this sort of deflates the thrill of finding the rare/limited original for the rest of us that have been on the hunt for these pieces.

Same thing happened when star wars decided to re-release their vintage figs again.. around 2 years ago..

After the initial annoucement, so many vintage collectors had something to say about the release. They were afraid there vintage collections would de-value in the wake of these new figs.

SW settled on re-creating the origional packaging, but gave the figs a whole new sculp, as to not 'replace' the limited vintage figs.

I feel something along the same vein is happening w/ these rumble monsters, but instead of changing the sculpt, it seems there changing the paint app.

well.. i don't know how this effects rumble monster's bottomline... the release is so small and they will instantly sell out their run for the retail price of 5000 yen regardless of what colorway they make. then only thing that makes sense to me is that they hope to kill the secondary market this way, but all it really does is confuse people.

Could well be. If anyone's in the Harajuku area, they could pop over to Erostika and ask. The good folks there work pretty closely with RM.

If RM's wanna "cool" the secondary market they can do OG runs of 500+ or unlimited and that market will cease to exist...the OG release will then trade for less than retail like the ones that sell/trade here on Skullbrain all the time but stay on the S7 site indefinitly at retail...and there will be no need to reissue.
Thing is if its not a really low run/limited then even the OG price is not justified...60$ for a mass produced chunk of wax?WTF?
I doubt it has anything to do with the Company tring to bring down the price of things they sold long ago...and seemingly want to redo in the future.
People go nuts over Art prints with runs of 500(Ryden Sherman) at like 500$ retail.Wonder if anyone would pay 100$ if it was a run 100000 or unlimited with plenty on Ebay for less than retail?
Demand that outweighs supply enables what could be $10 toys to wholesale at 30$ then retail at $60 as soon as that supply outweighs demand ...thats the end of that.

Waaaaaaaaaaaay late on this thread - but, I LOVE that they re-release teh figure.

Isn't this about liking teh toy, the paint job the sculpt, and secondarilly its about the limited nature of it? (Yep, I like a nice exclusive ed as much as the next man, but I also like to have a shot at actually scoring a toy)

I never got a shot first time around, but maybe I will this time?

Also, its a sound way of keeping down secondary prices, without totally blowing it for themselves by over producing a first run and seeing them for sale on every second for sale thread.

while you rfsOG's were buying up original releases I was into Western vinyl so having another opportunity to snag some RMs is always a treat but I totally see the perspective of not appreciating re-releases. It'd be nice to at least have an explanation from the makers.
