 why are zags so popular?
i'm full of pointless questions today
just wondering why the zags seem to sell like they do.
not knocking the figure at all -- just seems like when there is one of those available they are snatched up immediately.
are they rarer? do people find that particular scuplt superior?

it seems like the zag really took off when KR people got sight of them, now both eastern and western toy collectors are both after them

What Frank said! They just rule! They sell like crazy now because of the hype and more people are turned on to them. When I first got into Zags a lot of people thought they were lame. So I went to KT and bought 3 large and like 3 or 4 minis that had sat there for awhile. From what I remember, the S7 Zag sat on the site for a long time.

I hadn't considered that but it does make sense. The Gargamel version has a "cute" factor that would definitely appeal to the KR/KFGU collectors. He looks happy.
It's a great sculpt and a definite charmer as monsters go, but more and more I'm lovin' the hukkokudo version of ikb's original. More scary monster-like to my eye. Er, eyes.

^ That one looks very Black Stream to me. Maybe that's what it was inspired by?
I personally have no Zags (yet). I would love to get them, but there's just so damn many. Maybe one of these days I will start with one that just screams 'BUY ME!'

That is a glow fullsize Zag custom by Koji Harmon. He now lives with his brothers in my collection in San Francisco.

There were no bad customs in that show. All very unique and beautiful.
I'm grateful that I could be there.

No clue if that's what Koji was thinking ... possibly not, as he would have prepared several of the show pieces prior to the relatively recent release of the Blobpus/Skull Toys "black stream" figures. However, several of us observed the same potential similarity at the opening. I'm inclined to think it's coincidence based on the differences from the black stream colors, and the general originality of Koji's color schemes for that show.

This one was the first custom sold at the show, snapped up by #1 in linester Turtlegod - after seeing it I just couldn't make up my mind and spent a while deciding despite being #2 in line. All teh customs were RAD...as evidenced elsewhere!

While we are on the subject of Zag's does anyone know how many variations have been released? Perhaps a visual check list?

From pics, this guy and the Standard Standing Hedoran Bros. from the show are my fav. Not just cause it's Zag, the paint is just so burning hot.
Zag is fun, I think all the Garg sculpts have TONS of personality, but Zag is just different. I'm not gonna say he's my fav, the Brothers are, but I can see the appeal for sure.
