Know why I couldn't own that? It'd end up with me and a plate of Pizza Rolls busted through it while tripping on a cat. I'm usually pretty careful, especially with expensive things, but I still know something to that effect would happen.
Probably in an ironic sense too, I'd most likely be watching some ECW "Greatest Tables Matches" video too, ya know, just to make it even funnier to God.

Apple to make YouTube available through Apple TV:

double holy shit! The networks need to implement that new marketing plan soon.

From what I've read, Apple TV looks lousy as it is. Now they're going to channel YouTube's super-compressed videos through it? Bleh.

I remember when people complained about the iPods sound quality and the lack of itunes support for PC.

So are you saying that you think that they'll eventually improve it, or that people will just get used to sub-VHS video quality?

the ipods sound quality never really improved, it was/is a step back from CD sound quality. People just don't really care. Even a lot of DJ's use the dam things now.
Video may be different, people seem to have a higher visual aptitude and after spending $$$$ on a HD tv they may demand quality.

roger, every time i see your icon there i think it is a mouse for some reason
i think they will slowly improve the technology... that's what happens with new technology here. they slowly improve it and sell it all over again. and over and over and over
6.1 megapixels gets upgraded to 6.3 and people buy the camera all over again

The technology really isn't the limiting factor. There are two reasons YouTube videos are grainy, choppy, and the size of a post-it note: storage and bandwidth. It costs money to store the videos, and to pump it through the internet, so the videos are kept at a low screen size and resolution.
Of course, these two things will (theoretically) become cheaper over time, but is YouTube even making any money today? (I honestly don't know.)
If you want to see really impressive online video delivery, install DivX's plug-in and poke around their site. It's very nice, but neither of the big players (Apple and Microsoft) seem to like them.

DivX looks great but the internet would grind to a halt if it was the video standard. Currently, there are no viable options for streaming high quality video that wouldn't clog the internet.

that table reminds me of a pacman 2 player at the bar or something.
I watch youtube all the time on my ps3 and tv. the low quality is annoying, but it is better than nothing when you want to automatically watch henshin cyborg commercials.

Bingo! on the "people don't care" part. Most don't. Many wrongly claim that there's no difference in sound quality between a CD and a low-bitrate .mp3.
You can have CD-quality music on an iPod if you use space-hogging lossless formats that it plays (currently Apple Lossless and .wav) but there is an issue with output as the jack isn't "audiophile" quality. There are hacks for that, but from what I've seen they're pretty awkward. In any case, you aren't limited to the .aac or .mp3 formats that most portable digital music player owners use. I rip quite a bit to Apple Lossless and feel that with high quality earbuds (I prefer Ultimate Ears) that the fidelity is excellent.
To my surprise, David Byrne gave a lecture a few weeks ago in which he not only asserted that most people don't care about audiophile quality sound, but that the labels and device makers shouldn't either. Bad, David Byrne, bad! We sound-quality nuts care a lot.
