Could use some good coffee. There's absolutely no good coffee near where I work. I think there's only a starbucks, and they make me want to stab people -- and not in a good way.

I like buying super cheap Puerto Rican or Cuban brands from corner stores, it's usually super strong too.

In NYC there's a small company called Porto Rico Coffee that sells hundreds of different beans - they import so much quantity that they can sell a pound of bean for $3.99-7.99 and the quality is AMAZING. It's the only espresso bean I can find in the city that doesn't taste either sour or bitter...just perfect. Makes a $13 pound from Starbucks seem like a crime. They do mailorder too...
The only other bean I've found that's this good is from some Canadian company called Oso Negro, in BC. Their "Prince of Darkness" roast is incredible. My girl calls it "liquid crack"

I was just at a car shop and they had one of those machines where it drops the cup and pours the sugar, cream and coffee into the cup. It was pretty cool, but the coffee was terrible. I love coffee so much, but it never agrees with me.

i'm a big supporter of Peet's.
whenever you go to their offices, they make it a point to serve you coffee. They made me a believer of the French Press.... best coffee experience ever.....

At $300 a quarter pound and with two-year waiting lists, that shit had better be good!

Both of those are great. It's nice living about 50 yards from a Caffe Ladro. But Vivace is still the best, and Cafe Umbria is where we get our beans.

Vivace is pretty good but my favorite is Caffe D'Arte in Seattle....I have the beans shipped over every couple of weeks. 4 shot Americano everyday!!
I'm waiting for Intelligentsia to get their store going in Silverlake...I wanna check out their Clover machines.

I think you are gonna like bluebottle. I only drink expresso after drinking too much at diner so I am no expert in that area but having grown up in kona so I know my coffee beans. The filter drip coffee at bluebottle is better than any I have ever had, even coffee I had picked and roasted myself. They have a kiosk in Hayes valley and they set up at the farmers market every weekend.
BTW - there is also a great place outside the shibuya station in Tokyo that does what pressure drip coffee using these crazy class pots, it is a truly stunning cup of coffee but a tiny cup cost about $10!

If you have to get it out of a bag --- Try the Hawaiian coffees. Now that's Kona Gold.

Oh yeah, I ordered the Chiapas blend and a new grinder. It's pathetic that I'm so excited about getting coffee in the mail, but then, my workmates think I'm crazy for getting excited about toys in the mail.
I don't drink espresso that often either, anymore. It's good to know you can find the good stuff when you're in the mood though.
