LOL, well if you're talking about some of the "ska" bands around today, you're probably right, but during the revival circa 1978-82, true ska didn't suck at all. The first Specials and "English" Beat LPs are still amazing albums, and many tracks by other revivalists hold up too. The original post-rock steady classic artists from the early 60s made outstanding music.

This thread prompted me to go listen to old Trojan label ska tracks on Rhapsody. "Rudy, a Message to You" by Dandy Livingstone, "Skinhead Moonstomp" by Symarip, "Pressure Drop" by the Maytalls, and of course "The Israelites" by Desmond Dekker ... oh yeah, good stuff.

Gwen Stefani sucks.

We have a shirt coming soon (still getting the okay from Mr. muir)--
Supercidal Sevencies

and as much as I am not a big ska fan, you can't really argue with the Specials, the highly underrated BYO band Scram, and OpIvy.

Lookin' forward to the shirt! I still remember the first time I heard "Institutionalized" when it came out. My mom was in the room and said something like "I think that's just awful" LOL. Gotta love mom.

I'm just playin' ... haven't been deeply into ska for twenty years or something, but I like the good stuff when I hear it. There's plenty of room for Napalm Death and The Skatalites in the world.
