Best one yet, I think. Reminds me of the metallic purple sprays on the RxH figures.

Okay.
I would like to see RxH release the sculpt with a similar paint scheme.
Meaning, I like this.

So Kirkland, how did you manage to get to be one of the best customs artists around in no-time flat?
Did you have prior art training or experience? You have a keen eye for color control and evidently a good steady hand. From what I've seen it usually takes a previously unexperienced artist at least a couple of years to get to the point you're at. Keep up the great work!

Dean, thanks! ummmm, no previous art training or experience. In fact, I was sooo bad at painting kits, I wasn't even gonna try with an airbrush.
but I gotta tell you guys that it's waaaay easier than I thought it was gonna be. With some tips from Lash, Paulk, Redhanded, Locomoco, Shapeshifta and some practice, I think anyone can pick up an airbrush and goto town.
Having said this, Color choice is harder than I thought it was gonna be. How to use colors you like in a way that looks fresh all the time is not easy. I have to admit studying Paulk and LASH's colorways for inspiration. Shapeshifta won't tell me yet how he gets that crazy color-change effect going on.
lastly, a decent lense on the camera can make any toy look good! lol!!!

Hah, well it's a magician's prerogative to keep his secrets. I have a SHAPE custom Chaos and the way the colors change depending on what angle I'm viewing it from never ceases to be impressive. Nothing wrong with studying the masters ... that's how its done in foundations classes at art schools after all. toybotstudios wrote: lastly, a decent lense on the camera can make any toy look good! lol!!!
I can appreciate your modesty but while there's probably some truth to that, not everyone can turn out good work based on good equipment. As for my own part, I've learned the value of a little dodge and burn in Photoshop.
I really like the customs people have done for the Popsoda Man sculpt more than the official production releases so far.

Yeah yeah yeah. hahahhhha.
I still wouldn't commission a piece, but if this were a production run, I'd snap one up.
Immediately. Best Popsoda guy to date.
