There used to be a game store on Divisidero (is it still there) near Haight, and the John Coltrane church that straight up D&D as well as chess etc. And Robin Williams would roll in there and buy up tons of shit, motherfucker cut me in line

Seems like Williams sightings are pretty common in SF. In the early 90s I worked at a "see and be seen" cafe/restaurant where famous people would stop in all the time. It wasn't Super7 though. I think my favorite celeb who came there was John Waters because he was the nicest. David Geffen was the rudest.

John Waters sweet! Not many people have made me laugh more.

"In person" he's very cynical but it's good natured. A naturally funny man. Once he was in with the owner of Zuni restaurant and ordered two iced teas for them. Per usual, I put lemon slices in them. In this really dramatic way (and I know you had to be there) he pulled them out and threw them on the counter, saying "I. Did. Not. Ask. For. LEMONS!" It might sound rude but it was hilarious. Too many celebs from those days to name but another that impressed me was Debbie Harry, who came in alone, was very sweet, and sat there sipping her cappuccino looking like an oldskool movie star.

I used to work for the Gap in college and one of my regular customers was Joe Perry from Aerosmith. He and his wife are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

I can see him w/the lemons lol. Here in Atlanta I've seen 2 'stars' Da Brat at the post office w/her crew getting usual rude service from the usps workers and wrestling star Raven at a comic shop who talked to anyone who'd give him the time.

speaking of john waters i saw a really cool documentry on him called divine trash, must have been cool to interact with him.

He's surprisingly approachable. I was always a little embarrassed that customers would approach him to gush and ask for an autograph, but he always took time to chat with them and give them their autographs.

My most embarrassing encounter with a famous person was when I met Robert Fripp, the great guitarist. He is NOT someone that you approach unless you have some reason to, yikes. Cool guy, but he's all business. On his terms, period.

Robin Williams is in Vancouver all the time. He is very chill and is usually spotted buying up all clothes from all the skate and urban shops we have. He is definitely very approachable.

I ran into Danny Glover in the bank of america on Geary near Masonic in San Francisco about 10 years ago. He was either on acid or 'shrooms because he was clearly on something and was bending down under one of their signature counters fascinated with how it was constructed. He was on the floor looking up at the undertable for at least 3-5 minutes. Weird. But no one said anything and just went on with their business. You get used to this sort of thing with you live near Haight Street.

lou ferrigno and seth green were both out on the floor a lot at sdcc this year. i bumped into them both.

worked at a sandwich shop in albuquerque and neil patrick harris came in to order some food once.....the guy was a major prick....complained about to much ice in his drink, when he was the one that made it!!! also worked a signing at a store for Marina Sirtis from Star Trek....she was very nice....had a smoke with her out on the loading dock....nice tight shirt for the fanboys...hehe
