Thats sick that someone could raise an animal like that. My little Boston Terrier gets the best care and food. Once you have that close companionship with an animal that relies on you so much to take care of them, how could you not treat them the best?

Part of the problem is that in the eyes of the law, and some people, animals aren't even given the same worth as a $5 piece of property.

My next door neighbor has a cat that was stolen a couple of days ago. This cat is super cool, everyone, and I mean everyone, in the neighborhood knows this cat. He is the sweetest, friendliest cat I've ever met, and we all noticed immediately when he was gone. It was assumed someone took him, because he is so friendly he'll walk up to anyone. So yesterday my neighbor gets a call from some 7 year old kid who leaves a message to the effect of "I have your cat, here's super vague directions to my house, come get it or I keep it." He calls his friend, who is a local sheriff, and the sheriff basically said that they can't do anything because it's "just" an animal. If it was a fucking car stereo they'd track the phone number, get a warrant, and search the house, but because it's "just" a cat, too fucking bad.

I was at some trade show all this week and we talked a lot about this case, and a couple of people had this attitude like "Oh well, they are just dogs." It makes me sick. Do they not get that if someone is that cruel to an animal, they would treat a human the same way? Not that I think one is more important than the other, but to these people they are. Fucking crazy.

I think the real punishment will come from lost endorsement deals and (hopefully) the ruination of his career. Sponsors aren't going to want to have anything to do with him after a crime like this... no one would buy any product he's selling.
