Are Prices for Older Secret Base Falling?
In light of the mad prices being spent on RxH, HP Pushead, Cronic, etc. I have noticed a trend in the opposite direction for older Secret Base. In particular Brains. I remember 1.5 years ago trying to get the Secreters and they seemed to be on everyone's holy grail list and people were paying $300+ for some of them. It seems to me that for whatever reason, Secreters in particular are much easier to get now and much less expensive. Same for Warp and Project Brains? Obviously Ubiq would be an exception to this trend....
what do you guys think?

I know devilboy might now agree. He's looking for a few of those Brains still I believe.
I'm looking for some older Bees still so I sure would love to find them at a discount!!
But I do agree some of the newer older SB items don't seem to be holding their value (right now).
I don't care I LOVE my collection and will be happy if they all sell for cheap. I'll just build my ARMY

I'm allocating money for other stuff... otherwise i would have hopped on the deals lately. i think i have enough skullbrains for now, maybe everyone else feels the same way. there's a few sb that haven't turned up for awhile and i'd be surprised if they didn't go for crazy money

it seems that the same 3 secterters keep popping up for the most part while the 3 i need still remain elusive (who has an employee, forest and sun with headers!). i still need an ubiq too but don't really see the price on ebay as good...do you?. it's great that people have been selling stuff lately here for good prices. i wish this had been the case when i started.

I also think it has a lot to do with the shear volume of new releases. Even if you just add RxH, Gargamel and Blobpus into the mix it is next to impossible to try and keep up. As such, I think many collectors have simply stopped trying to get every new release and/or starting dumping off some of their SB to pay for, or make room, for newer stuff. This has also left sellers/flippers with SB that they can't move for the same prices they could a year ago.
All things considered, I still think older SB will hold its value. Although certain figures, even Secreters, may not get gobbled up for the 25000 BIN prices they did a year ago they are still rare and sought after by a lot of people.

It really appears, that the demand is still there, but many people have found key pieces that they were looking for, and that many pieces hit a price ceiling and are now sitting rather than selling. Prices have evened up and overpriced figures sit at auction. I am still surprised at the steady stream of vintage SB that we sell, and that if you look at the 250+ figures SB has released, only about 25 of them really show up on a regular basis. Bees have even started to dry up. For brains, you only see 3-4 vintage versions hardly ever. Not even Atmos sets turn up that often anymore. I think the "it's the only thing in the world" hype has died down, the over paying and desperation has died down, and many people are pacing themsleves to pretty big SB collections.
So, sell me your black Halloween Obake, blue blood spatter Bagman, Grey bone bagman with red blood spatter, White unpainted bagman (no signatures), Grey bagman with grey bag (non-bloody) and your glow Balzac Obake (non-blood) so I can finish my set.

You could always just acetone the signatures off mine . . . . in return for a certain pesky Skullpirate
Having finally fluked a GID Brain for $100 and a White Barbarian for $60 I'm glad the prices have levelled. As so succinctly put by Mr F . . . 'it's a marathon not a sprint' (although it took a few $300+ pieces before I realised!)

I think at some point the prices stabilize on every brand.
Things don't stay red hot permanently, they have to cool off a bit as people move on to the new hot line.
Thats why collecting the stuff you really enjoy is best. RxH kicks ass but I'm not joining the feeding frenzy on the really high priced older stuff as I think the prices are near maxed out (or will be soon).

what do u expect from new kaiju collectors who
used to spend hundreds for dummies and [expletive deleted]
rather then picking up some early pieces that started it,
like mowax pointman u can get for 100 $ on the bay?
same as they didnt get western vinyl
as not interested in background info or history -
they wont worship good kaiju figs like sb secreters.

A fantastic price for the 1/6! This si still one of the best colorways to ever come out.
I think I paid $150 with celga fees for mine. What rubs me raw about the green white day is that I couldn't get one to save my life and now it seems like almost everyone who had one has now sold it.

RxH know the know-how to make itself hot. They seem willing to invest in new mold for every 2 months . Though they will release same figure in different colorways but the new figures release every 2 months really keep the collectors awake...
