Look into Robocon's eyes, and open your mind...



A few months ago I contacted my friend, master model maker Asahina Yoshikazu for a special custom project. I provided him with two Maschinen Krieger Kubricks, and two Soul of Sofubi Robocons. The instructions were simple, duplicate the approximate paint jobs of the Kubricks on the Robocons. The result:

I knew that this would be a Herculean task, but I also knew Asahina had what it takes to pull this off. He definitely knocked it out of the park this time.

That's crazy in a good way! It really brings together two otherwise dissimilar toys/designs.

What brought about the idea for this?

There was an old issue of Hobby Japan where an SAFS was made up like Robocon. I think that's what stuck it in my head.

There was also a SAFS done up like Godzilla in the same issue. Unfortunately I don't have it any more.
