I'd heard the flesh color was being released in Japan at Junk Spot on 9/16..... So is the unpainted Rotofugi all blue?

Derail again!

BTW, LASH isn't just a fan....and it belittles his creativity IMHO. If you've seen his work, then you know he IS an artist.....one of many who go unrecognized becaue they lack the exposure.

E is right, most of the LASH colorways look like they are killer enought to hold their own with official RxH releases....

just sayin' :D

No offense to Mori, but with all the one color vinyl he is putting out a crazy Lash Chaos would be refreshing. A few of Lash's custom Chaos are some of my favorites of that sculpt. I'd buy one!

you can be the greatest cover band in the world.. but you're still a cover band. i just think when people do customs... they're not looking for fame/glory/money or a way to express themself... they do it because they're huge fans

I think the thing that I find most egregious about this discussion is the way that Mori is being reduced to sound like a mere supplier of blanks, and I think it comes across as being very disrespectful in my opinion.

I mean no disrespect to Lash, because I enjoy his work, but you (logang1) can't just come in, wave some money around to say you'd fund a custom run, and expect it to happen... I find this also to be extremely disrespectful to Mori.

If Mori wants it to happen, perhaps it will happen one day, but the way it's being proposed here in this thread really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I think it's TOTALLY presumptuous, but that's what the point was (I thought.) Just kinda going on a "what if" basis. More for the sake of conversation than anything.

I think "what if?" discussions are fine, but just the way it's come across just sounds like a lot of you think that just throwing money at Mori will get it to happen, and I think that's in poor taste.

I'm willing to bet the KISS dwarf cover band is better than the original.

Hm...and i thought we were discussing how cool it would be to have an artist whose work on these toys unofficially has us inspired for a more "official" release. Meaning more cool toys for us :D

So basically you are suggesting that getting "more cool toys for you", justifies demeaning and minimalizing the creator of the toys in that process.

WHOA !

No disrespect intended at all....the blanks were really only mentioned as part of RxH collabos...and props were paid for sure re: Mori's character design....and creation of RxH.

Quote:
Frank Kozik wrote:

Basically, thus far, Mori has been fine with me doing what i do with his RxH blanks, so as far as I know 'Kozik x Rxh' is approved. This comes from what Taro at kaiju-Taro and Datadub tell me. Those guys act as my 'go between' wit RxH. I have no way to talk to Mori direct because:

1. he has no email
2. I dont speak Japanese and as far as I know he doesnt speak English, so I cannnot call him on the phone.

Some of this discussion kinda comes from Frank's thread where he's described the process a bit of how his RxH collaboration has come to fruitiion....nothing more.

No one is "demeaning and minimalizing the creator of the toys" at all.......and if you think that's the way it sounds, that was not intended.

Can't we just get amp'd about how cool these toys look whether its LASH, Frank, Koji, PK, SHAPE or anyone else that's got the talent to highlight Mori's creation?

Please, again, no disrespect meant.

No, when i say "official" i mean something that the creator recognizes and has agreed to. If he has then that in no way demeans or minimalizes him or his creations. I believe logang1 by offering to pay for something like this is just doing it out of a newfound love for these toys, and an appreciation for Lash's work with them...and I said us not me.

Yes if that's your enthusiasm. Just be aware, if you aren't already, that there's considerable disagreement about this. Not everyone appreciates customs or the non-Mori runs, for various reasons. Some have strong feelings about these things and good arguments to back those feelings up. In other words, not all feel that paint jobs other than those designed or executed by Mori are highlights, enhancements, attractive adornments, or improvements upon the sculpts.

If I understand correctly, the main objection here wasn't to the idea of LASH or anyone else doing customs at all, but rather the idea that some group had here is something that Mori could be co-opted into. That would be presumptuous and potentially disrespectful indeed.

edited for typos

Huh? The one in Slack's avatar is the Fungus.
Edit: My bad, I was looking at tavaro's, I thought Slack had changed his. Definitely not the Fungus. That's the Frankenruge (as stated above)
