I am sure this will disappoint some here, but its only my opinion.
For my money ( and that is what it comes down to)
The only RXH I like is the Mutant Chaos. The upside is you wont find me bidding against you for any of the others.
Speaking of bidding,,, Who is the BAMBOO MAFIA?
and is the rumor true, if any one ever outbids him they are visited at night by little guys in black suits and awake with 2 broken legs?

Its never to late. And I have caught myself saying that. But the fact remains there will always be killer releases that will turn classic in the years to come. Remember even the old ones where new at some point

what do you mean by classic? I think there are a number of people investing in rxh today thinking what they buy will be worth $500 later like the older releases but I doubt that will happen since production runs have increased.

Agreed, and perhaps this is an anomaly, but the Fungus Chaos was a recent release that seems to be very highly desired by those who don't have it. Other rarer releases (e.g. green Oni Dogs, green Shintosan) don't seem to be especially popular. As we all know, Bigaro wasn't well-received at first but is extremely popular now. In other words, while rarity of truly "older" releases will always keep their value high, there do seem to be other factors, namely perception of desirability. It's my perception that an exceptional Mutant Chaos colorway will yield high market value even in this day of higher release numbers.

Slack in response to your question..... what he just said
And I don't think its the size of the run that affects the collectibility of the figure. Its always been one of those things to me that I cant pinpoint. You just know when its gonna be a instant classic. And some think that only the old figures are worthy of being called classic. There are new figures that in time will gain this credibility. Astro Zombies chaos and the SDCC bruised are 2 that come to mind that in years to come will be labeled classic.

but, the reason people are paying crazy prices on new releases is because flippers are buying them leaving the true collector empty handed basically having to pay inflated prices if we really want the toy.

True but that wasn't the question. The original question was about, "whats a classic".
As for people paying crazy prices. Well its the people not the flippers. If people didn't pay, the flippers would move on. We create our own hell. But this is the case for just about anything collectible, stamps, coins, etc....
Its sad, but it is what it is and unless EVERYBODY decided to not pay its will always be. Adapt and move on is all you can do.

What all good RxH collectors should do is STOP buying any RxH, buy tons of SB, let the flippers think those are the new it, flip the earlier bought SB at the now higher pice, sneak back and load up on RxH with profits. DUH!

not so funny.. remember Mori doesn't see one cent of flipped vinyl. Just stop buying old stuff and keep buying new stuff that will get the release numbers up and kill the flipping for good.

I suppose that would work as well.

Some of us are forced to do that by virtue of late entry to the habit. I don't see "classic" RxH going for RFSO prices, which is probably because RFSO people aren't selling them at any price.
Has Mori actually expressed that release numbers will go up if current release sales are healthy? That would be cool. Seems to me that everything he releases sells out, though. Demand keeps increasing and as recently discussed will probably increase again soon.
