The "Misfits skull" is one of the most recognizable images in the world of punk rock, and many people know that its origin is the 1946 film "The Crimson Ghost."

Misfits vocalist Glenn Danzig made another image just as popular in his post-Misfits band Samhain as well as in his later project, Danzig. The "Danzig skull" appeared on Samhain's Initium and later releases as well as on Danzig's solo records.

This skull was "borrowed" from the Marvel comic book "Crystar: Crystal Warrior". Check it out here:

without getting into details, a "friend of a friend" got sued by mr ziggy. for using a danzig skull. He got out of it by presenting this comic book ..

oh yeah. I thought this was common knowledge.

when I bought a huge collection of Marvel back issues in preparation for opening my comic store (lots of complete runs from mid 70s-mid 90s), I remember almost instantly searching through for this issue.

Wow! Nuts, as a huge fan of Misfits/Samhain/Danzig I'm constantly coming upon new information, that's great! I think I've heard a connection before ("Hey did you know the Danzig skull came from a comic?") but I've never seen it, awesome!
