Its not a 1K Blob ...although it is the Best IMO...and probably would sell for 40000+ yen
I get the feeling the mini Goga of this set is the >$$$ end..
Goga minis are hard enough but this one is the One.
Too much for me LOL!!! But I sure want it!...both actually.
Gods of Kaiju help us if the Hardcore 70's Vintage guys in Japan decide in mass that certain aspects/lines of "Neo-Kaiju" are legit/respectable/collectable ...I think its already happening to a smaller extent.

I don't think you guys have been collecting this stuff long enough to call it a "holy grail."
Holy Grail is something that you would have to search for YEARS to find, and most people around here haven't been, myself included.
I am so tired of hearing "wah wah my holy grail!" Especially when everyone seems to have a new one each month.
Right f'ing on....

Let's hope not.

I just want to say, since I have under 50 posts, that you never know how long people who are posting have been involved with anything until you know them personally. I have no need to try to prove who or what I am or how long I have een doing this...but my 50 posts and recent joining of this board do not reflect the full story at all...
I agree that "grail" is a pretty common word used on here...but I have learned in life you really never can know the whole story...sometimes the guy you think is a poseur is the guy who created the very thing you love...
also, I used to see this kind of angry posting elsewhere...and it wasn't a pretty site (no sic).

By that logic 90% of this board should stop collecting. How would you feel if you had been buying kaiju since you were 8 and a bunch of Americans were inflating the prices because they thought the toys looked cool? Most of us didn't grow up on these shows/toys, and they aren't a part of our culture, shouldn't we leave the toys to the fans who deserve them most?

i'm going to play devil's advocate here and say...why then would companies make "exclusives" for sdcc and come to the us to market and sell them? i hear what you are saying though and as far as vintage stuff goes have to agree for the most part. with neo kaiju stuff though...can your theory really apply?
p.s. new waves of kr people come over all the time to throw money at stuff someone here is looking for only to ditch jp vinyl a short time later. it bums out the people in it for the long haul all the time. same feeling...new person being burned as the rotation turns new. it sucks but it is reality.

Yeah it was mostly hypothetical. I don't really believe that anyone deserves any of these toys more than anyone else. If blobpus wanted all the fans to get the toy they would have made more.

????????????????????????? Who is robbing who?
Im not sure I understand...but if you are talkin low production #'s/ really limited..
Even in the 70's companies in Japan only wanted to produce #'s they believed they could sell.
From all the Crazy Vintage stuff out there ...I think they took their chances more with design than producing big #'s
Same thing now....what happens in the aftermarket isnt their responsibility.
As long as they sell-out and dont have stock sitting in the shop or at the distributers/retailers ..then they continue to produce in the future..if not they die as we all do! LOL!!!

I don't think anyone deserves it more than anyone else either. I think what I said was taken the wrong way.
But anyhow...of course there weren't that many made then, because the market for them 2 or so years ago wasn't as big. It would have been pointless to make, say, 100 of them at that time.
Why do you think they make more of each figure now?
Obviously, because way more people are collecting it now.

Yeah I think Blobpus and Anraku were hardly known at this time...but Id bet only 10 were made because Anraku said he would only paint 10 blobs and 10 mini Gogas and Blobpus said Cool!!!..then they were sold at retail to the lucky few.
I dont think its his style to make many of any design/paint scheme...I mean all that success with the Goga and ...VERY few produced since...I think he is a real deal Kaiju freak artist just doing his thing and not into dumping a bunch of this or that on the market. Its gotta cost him big in the big picture to do runs of 30...13 ...10...6...doesnt seem like he even hardly cares about the $
Seems like the best Vintage stuff is hard to find...somewhat obscure too....at least compared with the lowest common denominator stuff that Everyone loved...when everyone doesnt love it ...it does not get mass produced and usually falls into obscurity....like tons of great 70's DIY KBD Punk Rock 7's LOL!

Bullmark, Marusan, Nitto, Orange, Bandai, Popy, Nakajima etc. did not produce vinyl figures in the double or triple digit numbers.
Toys produced by these companies were made for children ( not adults ) and were priced within the reach of anyone.
They weren't created to be rare and unattainable.

this sounds all good to me but seems
to be the perception of s.o. being "new" to anraku.
i think ur missing the point that anraku
has already lost some of their fame recently.
putting known colorways on new figs, limiting em
and selling em for insane prices sound like sellout to me.
same goes for the upcoming high price produced
on demand stuff too.
i liked em to drop couple of new figures
but missing the unique style a little
that made goga, glutamin, gorilla or even minis
so outstanding.
anyway still trying to get all of the new stuff...
and would let go gogas for bemon only.

Anraku has lost fame recently? really? how so?
have you seen the new sculpts in person? the blue color series puts anything else I've purchased this year to shame quite honestly. i'm biased because this is what I primarily collect, but I think you're way off.
in addition, he has decided to do the dako sculpt again, which hasn't happened in quite some time. A fresh new color (yellow) in a classic figure style is "keeping it real" in my opinion.
In addition, I don't pay overinflated prices for the things I like to collect.
All of my anraku has been retail with the exception of one figure I picked up on ebay.
And in addition, recently anraku has made quite a few secret releases in runs of between 5 and 10 available to american collectors (which will be part of my collection) , hence how I was able to obtain my most wanted figure recently.
Anraku and blobpus aren't seeing the money from this auction, so the phrase "selling out" doesn't really seem plausible in this case.
