So I was going through the special features of MANIAC and in the stills/gallery they showed marquees from when it was in theaters. And one of the movies it was playing with was BLOOD BEACH. I remember watching this when I was a kid on Spotlite (now Showtime) and loving it (probably because I was around 10/11 and anything with blood and boobs was awesome). But after searching the nerd, I can't tell if this was ever released on DVD. At least legitimately.

I'm looking at you skylar, should I waste my time looking for this to relive some youthful fun? and is it even available on DVD and not a bootleg?

betcha can find it on ye olde internet. torrent style. that's where i found such retarded classics as "the wraith" and "solarbabies"

the wraith and solarbabies have both been released on DVD though. cheapo DVD, but released nonetheless.

there is no Blood Beach release that I know of, but it does float around bootleg tables at conventions. I haven't seen it in ages so I can't really remember if it is worth it or not.

it did have some exceptional poster/VHS box art however:

Maniac is great.. one of my all time favorites... Spinell was Oscar worthy. My dvd copy of Maniac came with a Joe Spinell shaped CD soundtrack... totally KILLER

Crap - I remember going to the theatre and seeing it! Cheapie $1.00 low budget theatre.

Best part ofthe movie - guy is face down in the sand naked (he tripped I think) and the "thing" castrates him.

Monster from what I can remember was ridiculous! Won't give it away but it is pretty funny looking.

the poster/key art is awesome indeed. and i too have the version that came in a tin with the shaped soundtrack. such an awesome package!

If anyone can find me a DVD copy of Blood Beach, I'll gladly trade you a copy of Like Normal People (starring Shaun Cassidy as a developmentally disabled man named Roger) for it.

The only seller there with a DVD is asking $99 for it, and that's a copy of the VHS tape. It's a good movie, venus flytrap under the beach good, but not $99 good.

I wonder if they'll accept a copy of the Shaun Cassidy movie instead.
