Man it was really bad, Like really really bad.

It wasn't Tool box murders, Black Christmas or Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake bad, it was just Rob Zombie over the top ridiculous bad, so it was still pretty funny.

Here's what I heard: "Fuck you out of 10"- Devin Faraci of CHUD.com

I gotta feeling that's accurate.

I just got back from seeing it.

I was the only person in the theater. Which was strange in itself.

Not so bad... Mr. Zombie really likes to express, well, what he likes.

No different than Ron Howard, or Spielberg, or Kubrick, those guys do the same thing really. Less blood though.

Don't talk about yourself that way!

I have still yet to see it, and I'm kind of disappointed in myself. I like Rob Zombie movies (shock!) and I love Halloween / Michael Myers, so all the shit-talk is making me not so excited to see it.

I was thinking about it and came to the conclusion that he probably actually did a good job at updating this movie, The original did what it did very well and will always be the one true Halloween for most fans, but I think this one will probably fall in line more with the tastes of a new younger horror audience.

WOW - must of been no one in the other theatres seeing anything cause Halloween was the #1 pic at the box office for the weekend. Broke some labor day record. No interest in seeing it. Maybe a rental if I am bored.

Well this thread killed my interest. That many Skullbrainers hating a horror movie can't be wrong. :-) Maybe I'll catch it on DVD as a time-waster if it comes to one of those vending machine rental things at the supermarket.

Even if Zombie were known to be a good filmmaker, I have to wonder ... what was he thinking? The strong points of the original "Halloween" were lost on the makers of the countless slasher films it inspired. As a result, the original is pretty tame in retrospect, but still a fairly strong movie for the way it builds and holds suspense, gives the protagonist a personality and just the right balance of vulnerability and strength, and the way that it toys with how much the audience knows about the boogie-man. I'm not sure you can re-make "Halloween" in 2007 and make it work. It's too late in the game. "Re-envisioning" is probably the right approach, but you'd have to do it intelligently, not just cleverly, and certainly not by throwing too much gore into the mix.

Now if Jamie Lee Curtis' white legwarmers make a comeback, that'll be scary.

What really boggles me is if the story line for Michael's child-hood was John Carpenter's original idea. :?
