Well, I think MTV / Viacom is getting places that have posted the video (I know it was on Dailymotion.com -- don't even consider trying to find it on Youtube) to take it down. If it happens to pop up at some point or if I can find it again, I'll post here.

As for the performance, it was very awkward to say the least. It's getting kind of oldhat to make fun of her -- She is a dumb redneck afterall.

I'm glad Sarah Silverman followed Britney immediately - that made it worth watching 5+ minutes of MTV. I love how the crowd didn't know how to react to Sarah. And the visual "performance" of the cuteness of Britney's kids had me cracking up!

I had to watch the vid clips of what might be the lamest opening act of any awards show to date...I don't know what little pill Britney was on that made her look like she was moving through "thick" air, but I want one! If this wasn't the final wave in the "washing up", I'd be quite surprised. I'd also be firing my wardrobe coordinator if I was her...she may not be super fat, but only super skinny types can really pull off that outfit---and as that earlier picture shows, the thickening of time has begun to work its magic on her.

Thank goodness for Sarah Silverman! I don't know how she gets away with it---must be the cute factor---but she clearly left the audience stunned!

Somebody at MTV undoubtedly caught a lot of hell for that mega-lemon of an opening act though...talk about a snoozefest...

On the contrary, it's got everyone talking and I'm sure tons of people tuned in just to watch Britney.

True True. I missed the show on Sunday but since MTV always has repeats throughout the week I have my Tivo set up to record the whole award show tonight!

Those of you you missed it now have a chance to see it.

Madonna has always seemed to be one helluva lot smarter than Ms. Spears...

The biggest problem with Britney is that her music is primarily aimed at teens, and now she no longer looks or moves like one. She doesn't write her own music (that I'm aware of) and doesn't play any instruments, so what does she really have to offer the music world, other than a replacement spectacle for the Anna Nichole watchers of the world?

I suppose it is true that MTV has benefited from that fiasco---since they pulled all the video clips from youtube and elsewhere, there was only one place to go to get that clip...they still suck, of course, but that was a good move...

The main difference between Maude and Brit Brit, is that Maude did thing intentionally and owned up to her actions as reinventing herself (which was the smart way of doing it), where as Brit Brit seems to be doing things as a result of too much booze, too much drugs, and trying to deny deny deny...

I like Kanyes beats but I cant stand that guy. The stuff he says about everything is so much bull shit. I hated him ever since he claimed he was a "backpack rapper" !! Couldn't be farther from the truth, the guy makes me sick.

Loathe though I am to admit it, much of Madonna's material has more depth to it than any of Britney's. At the very least, some of her songs had a r'n'b basis that served her songs well, even when it seemed contrived. Madonna's music has gradually declined in quality since roughly the "Express Yourself" days, but her live act has never faltered from what I understand. She has never appeared unprepared, unrehearsed, or drugged. She's a workaholic with exacting standards, and above all, calls a lot of the shots regarding those standards, whereas Britney is the daughter of an allegedly horrific "stage mother" and has always been a "product" designed by others, more marionette-like than Madonna the control freak.

And yeah, Madge is smarter. We can laugh at the pretentious fake British accent that comes and goes, the bad children's books that were actually written by her Kabbalah guru, and the whole gentile Kabbalah thing in general, but somehow, girlfriend has managed to weather her own weaknesses and creative failures well and without ever appearing to be anything near a train wreck. Even people like me who were never into Madonna have some respect for her.

As others have commented, half of me enjoys watching and making fun of celebrity train wrecks or has-been obnoxious celebrities like the once-genius Elton John, but in the case of Britney, the other half sees a childhood-deprived, scared and confused young woman who is drifting cluelessly at this point, and that's not so funny. It's unfortunate that she hasn't managed, as Madonna did with her talent-breaking music label, to find other lines of work other than her "day job." The spotlight will never be kind to Britney again.

These are the days I look forward to.

America buys this shit, then in the end , wonders why there's a turd in their hands.

It happens again and again and again.

Nobody ever learns.

Welcome to the future of pop.

Hahahahahahah!
