I'm tempted cause it's a cool color, but with no paint I know I won't appreciate it as much.

^^Yes i thought about that too but then again i was thinking how cool it would look with the red unpainted and painted Ryusei ninja's and that red unpainted mutant chaos with the red eye. I got a mini-red set going on here.

Yeah fi I had all those I might keep going too hahaha. The red would look cool with some white and silver tones though, kinda candy cane-ish.

It's so tempting...and that's what's sad. I will probably fork over the loot to get this one, but I just hope that if/when Mori decides to give this guy some spray, that they are as easy to come by as the unpainteds are/were. Since we're seeing a lot of plain releases, I'd like to see some very pale blue vinyl. Hakkudo(sp?) released a mightin in this color, and Gargamel released a full-size Zag in this color. Beautiful unpainted.

C'mon, Mori--pale, pale blue pearl unpainted! pale, pale blue! :)

If he does a clear w/ color bbs, I'll explode!

I'll pursue the Red Pearl because Shintosan is one of the few figures I've chosen to be "completist" about, on the strength of the sculpt and how I read its connotations. However, despite my reluctance to be critical of anything RxH, it is a little frustrating that this is the fifth release of the figure without a varied paint application. Fortunately, the detail and size of the figure make it impressive even in these relatively plain iterations, and as we all know, red is one of the strongest wavelengths in the color spectrum, which helps. I wonder, as it's called "pearl," if this one has the tiny sparkles that show up in bright light as the black pearl Chaos did? In my opinion and based admittedly on photos alone, this Shinto might have looked better with some simple metallic gold paint applied, in the manner of the white spray on the "secret green" release.

I'm just glad that this large figure appears to be better-received than the Bigaroids were. IMHO that sculpt was under-appreciated but I totally understand the objection to how much space it takes up, drowning in toys in my home as I am.

I get what you're saying xo, trust me if there's 1 unpainted Shinto to get for me it'd be this. I kinda miss my Gold Mist one too. The red being so vibrant on such a large scale would really knock me out, but with things like the Astro Zombies cat and the flesh set lottery and the Junk Spot Chaos and so many others I gotta draw the line somewhere, sadly this Shinto gets the cut. One day maybe though.

Uh oh, completisit?!?!?!?! Now you know Mori's gonna release a secret Shinto limited to 5 or something nuts just to foil your run!

Hahaha, I should have said "relatively lazy general production release completist." It's a goal with full understanding that it may be unattainable in the broader sense. It's probably lame that I said it at all, figure-love being a sometimes fickle thing. So far I just keep appreciating Shintosan more and more with each release. Just ... bring on da paint!

:-)

I've heard this mentioned and I want to make sure you guys know. The red unpainted (and for that matter painted) Ryusei and the Pearl releases are different color vinyl. The ryusei is straight up red vinyl. The pink pearl is just that a dark pink vinyl with a pearl flake in it. So the pink pearl chaos and this ryusei will be a PERFECT SET !

The ryusei will just look cool near them :)
