Datadub, did Mori hand out a different sculpt to the lucky peeps? What were the other ones like? Describe it to me so i can pretend i was there lol.

I got there a little late, butmost of them were mutant heads. The Ichibanboshi dude got a sick Gatchigon, it was clear red vinyl but painted almost entirely blck with just the hands showing in clear red. I will post a pic of it by the by.

Crazy, can't tell from your pic, is your Akro clear red vinyl too? OH I'm gonna DIE if they throw out a few production pieces made with clear red. Like Kool-Aid or Jell-O!

I didn't know about the one-offs until after everyone else was gone..I don't think any of them will be on the YJA cause Mori was pretty careful who he gave them to. I should try to get pics from al the regulars.

Mori and the Ichibanboshi guy have got to be two of the nicest around. Really, I feel like Hiddy and others could learn something from the way they conduct business.

All I'm saying is that I can't think of another toy designer nice enough to give away one-offs semi-regularly in light of the enormous after market that exists for their regular releases.

Data,

Is it just the fact that Mori can paint these one-offs himself...whenever he is inspired that makes them sooooo cool?

I see some of these one-offs..... like the Gatchigon, not my favorite sculpt, but a great figure in the pic above that I really would buy.

It feels like the one-offs looks so sweet because Mori is applying his finishing touch personally, like the old school Evils and Heads....

Whats the creative process like when he sets up a colorway for a release? Is it a paint artisan that sprays a couple of different designs on a figure, then sends them to Mori for his approval or choice of which he likes best?

Or does Mori get the prototype blank, and then paint it as an artist's proof of sorts, and sends that as a model to the factory to follow his paint spray design?

The simplicity of the red spray detailing on that Gatchigon one off really brings it to life!
