Is she also one of those Christians that think the earth is only 6 thousand years old?
I know a few of those.

say what you will about Barry Manilow (this is going somewhere)..but he pulled out of the show because of this moron. He refused to be on the same stage with her, and in fact, called her beliefs and politics "dangerous".
Go Barry!

Actually it wasn't her he pulled out of it for, it was for vocal conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I think that's dumb. You're not going to go on a show (with numerous hosts with different stances) because 1 host has a differing POV than you politically? I'd respect him more if he went on, brought up issues and discussed them in an adult manner (unlike Rosie who just screamed "I'm right" with little to back it.) Also, the only views I find "dangerous" in the world are ones like "if you don't believe in what I do, you DIE" which I don't think anyone on that show has. Even Ms. Flat Earth.
On the flat earth, and Christian Science end......hahahahahahhahahaaa! I've met a few folks who believed the earth literally was made in 7 days and that it's only 6,000 years old too. It's sad, most people of ANY religion I've met fully accept evolution and other scientific facts. That there are "educated" people out there who don't kind of saddens me.
But again, as long as they got their beliefs and don't hurt anyone I kind of don't care. I mean there's still a number of religions and cults out there that keep women as slaves, those are the freaks we need to stop and should be considered dangerous.

People riding dinosaurs would be so cool...but I have to tell them, it didn't happen.
There are so many wild Fortean theories espoused by fundamental Christians.
Another is that the world was surrounded by a giant layer of ice. This layer reflected all the bad rays from the sun, thus people aged very slowly and lived longer. Then God melted the ice for the great flood.
You should hear the excuses they give about why it was okay to have sex with your sister back then...

I dunno, Barry Manilow is like 8000 year old popstar from the 70's. I dont expect him to wage a war with some conservative on TV. If Rollins backed down then I'd be all "whatever" but Manilow? Nah.
It would be great if he got in there and used logic to disarm her nonsense but in the era of Fox News we all know, shouting and browbeating are considered "fair and balanced".

yea i've heard them all
carbon dating is not that accurate... someone dated a new item and carbon dating said it was hundreds of thousands of years old or something like that
that dinosaurs and people lived at the same time like the flintstones
or my favorite: dinosaurs never existed... but fossils were placed in the soil by demons to confuse humans and make us believe the earth is older than it actually is. this one was told to me with a completely straight face

I actually think most of the other hosts would "back" Barry. I don't think any of them are conservative. I'm not saying he should go in guns blazing, by why back out? He could just be non-confrontational too, go sing his song and make some weirdos happy. Hasselbeck doesn't really bring that crap up much, it was Rosie and her "if you don't think what I think you're a caveman who should die" type attitude who always started shit.
I'm with Missy, dumb show dumb bitches. I only know what I know about it because my wife keeps up with celeb gossip. Also because I think Rosie O'Donnel needs to be aborted right now and I keep up with people I hate. I'm like a Sith, my hate fuels me (particularly before coffee)

that's only half-true; I did that part-time for a while a couple summers ago. I don't see how that makes me a demon. I mean, the fossils aren't going to bury themselves.

And aside from obscure attractions in someone's cornfield, there was the multi-million dollar creationist museum that opened a few months back. I saw it had lifesize dioramas w/ people & dinosaurs coexisting.
Blind faith is funny & also frightening. These are the same people that are for the Iraq war, but would set up a Christian taliban in a heartbeat.

My favorite question is, "If evolution is real, why are there still chimpanzees?"

No, that is in a part of Texas where they would shoot Pee-Wee.

Really? I swore it was Cabazon, CA? All these big Dino/Creationist museums confuse me.

I've asked this question myself. if we all evolved from unicellular organisms, then why are there still unicellular organisms? I'm no scientist, but the theory of evolution is only a theory. I haven't heard of any unicelluar organism evolving into multicellular organisms in my lifetime. I'm down with knowing where we came from, but I think both sides (creationist and evolutionist) could be wrong. Who knows what the theory will be 200yrs from now? and don't scientologist have their own theory? who knows?
Darwin said "evolution" and scientist are trying to see if it sticks. no one knows what we'll find tomorrow.

Scientology holds the answer, we're aliens.

I'm currently re-reading Richard Dawkins' "The Ancestor's Tale," which I'd recommend to those interested in how we regard and misregard evolution. Dawkins' lucid thinking is always compelling, and he manages to be entertaining without dumbing down his material overmuch.
I have fond memories of visitng Vernal, Utah as a boy. It's not far from Dinosaur National Monument. They had huge cheesy fiberglass dinosaurs on street corners, sold honey dinosaurs instead of honey bears, and in contrast to the National Monument outside of town, had a cool outdated musty old dinosaur museum with lots of black lights ... the stuff of a boy's dream both good and bad.

I guess I'm just amazed that someone could have grown up in America in the last 100 years and never been exposed to a world globe.

There's no doubt she was exposed to globe, she just questions it. Don't judge her, you heard the woman, she was too busy feeding her baby to have the privalge to read a book!!!

Apparently this piece of information was never entered into her brain, there was never a need to access it, and now that she knows that it's missing, she's completely uninterested in filling in that empty space until someone else requests it.
It is unfathomable to me, but I guess the world is filled with people just like her. (And one could say that we even have one running the country.)

This is the museum about Creationism. It's in Kentucky.
http://www.creationmuseum.org/
What saddens me is all the kids who will go to this, thinking this contains definitive evidence of how life existed, because museums are assumed/supposed to be accurate voices in education, information, and conservation of genuine artifacts.
