Best. Fast Food. Ever. They've got plenty of 'em down in SD and it's one of the few fast food places I go too anymore.

No offense good dudes but In-and-Out is in the middle of the worst part of our worst tourist zone, which I wouldn't necessarily wish on LASH unless he's going to stay for more than a couple of days and really wants to see Fisherman's Wharf. :-)

More importantly, the best hamburger by a very long shot in San Francisco is in the Excelsior District at Joe's Cable Car. It's not fast food, we're talking real beef here. They grind their own beef on site and make huge burgers in various sizes. It's a diner that isn't just "old fashioned" in some nostalgic way, it IS a survivor of the late diner era both in form and in spirit. Hilariously busily decorated and tacky, but totally lovable for it. Year-round Christmas lights, hand-painted signs of sides of beef, milkshakes and fries made with real/fresh ingredients. Trust me, there is no better traditional burger experience in SF.

Is that the one on Geary right on the side of the tunnel? I hear they got good dogs too.

Joe's Cable car is the shit, get the orange chocolate shake too, it rules. Not Geary, the Excelsior. Dan White's constituency.

I disagree. when I was there I actually wish I had rented a car. I thought parking seemed way easier than most cities on the East Coast and would have saved me lots of time and foot pain getting around.

but that's me, and I'm a total spoiled brat when it comes to cars vs. public transportation.

I didn't think In and Out was that great when I tried it. I'm more partial to Carl's Jr. or Jack In The Box, personally.

the best thing I had in SF was the mini donuts at Fisherman's Wharf. forget sourdough.

people say don't rent a car, but I would. It was a P- in the A to get around on public trans. We did go from the airport on Bart to downtown then took a cab straight to S7 (not cuz we are fanatics, but because we kept our luggage there while we were sightseeing) haha. It wasn't that hard though to get there from the Airport.

Also--There is a hotel right across the street from them, but I don't know the name of it. check google maps.

In and Out was all about the shakes to me, everything else was just ok.

You guys really found the public trans that bad? Again, I haven't been in like 5 or 6 years, and anything's better than Chicago and Atlantas, but it was awesome than.

I walked a lot too,, I thought SF was pretty easy to tread around.

hills, dude, hills

it all depends on what parts of the city you want to see I guess, but we were all over the place. we were also out all day, every day, since we weren't staying at a hotel, but rather with Isaac, who was at work during the day.

like I said, I also hate all forms of public transportation. I'm a total baby about it. I'll take it if I have to, but it all takes so long, and there are lots of stinky weirdos to deal with. I prefer not to have to wait for anything ever, and thus renting a car insures that I can get in and drive wherever, whenever . but once again, that's just me.

Yeah, the hills sucked. I got tricked into walking by my wife, didn't think about it. We walked from 1 end of the city to the other, but in the end it was ok. I was still like 250 lbs than too, so huffing and puffing my lard ass around sucked.

I love stinky weirdos though, BEST part of public trans to me. And if it's not snowing or cold or 100 degrees out I don't care about waiting. I hate driving though, I usually make my wife drive when I can.

Isn't there some fast food chain in SF from the Philipines with a big Bumble Bee as it's mascot? I swear I remember seeing it there, and my uncle said it was a chain from the Philipines, I just don't remember much else, anyone?

Is that "Jollybee?" There's one near Moscone Center/Yerba Buena. Looks kinda scary but if people say it's good I guess I could duck in some time.

When I first tried In-n-Out, I felt the same way... people built it up to be this superior burger so I had some unrealistic expectation of it and I was really underwhelmed. But over time, you start to see the little things that make them really a good quick burger. The toasted buns, the grilled onions, the quality meat, the quality of the shakes... Now I love the place.

I like to eat at this place called Bill's place located on Clement near 25th ave. It's like a burger joint for the people that lives around there. It's really good and they have, I think, over 20 types of hamburgers. It's really good.

Great, I'll try it this weekend! It's gotta be better than that weird lost-in-time joint at Clement near 7th.

If any of you locals ever get down the peninsula towards Palo Alto or San Jose, you gotta try Kirk's Steakburgers... best burgers I've ever had. Flame broiled and made to order, and great shakes as well. My favorite place when I'm jonsing for a burger. :D

It is Jollibee. It was gone then it came back. It IS a total filipino thing and they are the McDonald's of the Philippines. I like it because I grew up on it and it reminds me of home. Most non-filipino people that I know don't really care much for it. They'd rather go to McDonald's or Jack, but where else can I get a burger and spaghetti or spaghetti and some fried chicken all in one fast food place.....mmmmmm.....spaghetti and chicken....

Can I get fried chicken on a burger topped with spaghetti? When I'm in I gotta check it out, thanks!

I've had homemade Filipino food and love adobo, but I'll give the 'bee a try next time I'm in the area.
