Does the book only cover Japanese vinyl? or does it include things like Tomica (die cast cars), bottle caps or art galleries (just to name a few things)?

Be sure to check out all the man hole covers in the streets... not joking.

It's basically a guide to the lesser-known Japanese toy stores, in particular, the newer vinyl sellers and vintage places. Not so much the merchandise, but the location and directions.

There are also numerous helpful tips about how to get around Japan.

A very good book, I think.

This is one of those "I wish I had this when I was in Japan...." kinda books for people like us....and yeah, I wish I had this when I was in Japan a couple of years ago. It's also nice that the book covers other interesting stops in the area.

I will be in Japan this December through January and I am planning on doing a lot of toy hunting either Japanese vinyl or die cast cars, etc........ I have been to Nakano and seen what amazing things it has to offer but I am a little more interested in the die cast cars right now..... I was just wondering if it names specific places and what they sell?

So, if I was to buy this book and wanted to find some old die cast cars would it help me in finding a place for that?

I've read through a few pages and it does mention a couple of places. Moda-Yu-Q-Te might have die cast cars. If you look behind Hiro, there's a glass case to the left with cars. They're ChoroQ but usually if a store carries ChoroQ they will probably also have Tomica (but I prefer ChoroQ). Mandarake also has a "Car Shop." There's also a store called Well Rounded and from the description in the book, they have Hot Wheels....and if there's Hot Wheels, there's got to be other die cast cars as well. There's always Toys R Us.

The book is worth getting because you'll probably miss a shop or two without it.

Forget the die cast....ChoroQ is the way to go.....lol

I really only get the ChoroQ cars. I've really cut back on my car collecting and haven't really bought any in a couple of years now. It might be because I've come to a feeling of contentment with the cars and sets that I've got....along with the lack of shelf space and the amount of real estate they all take up. People think, "But they're only a little bigger than a square inch in size..."....multiply that by a couple hundred and there ya go. I love my cars

There is a little bit of everything, but heavy on the vintage tots. Nakano Broadway mall is your best bet for die-cast cars, there are at least three shops, and the guys at well rounded will be able to possibly point you to other shops I do not know.
