Big Masamune Shirow fan right here!! I see that it's more realisticly rendered than the last Appleseed movie. Not that the last one was not totally kick arse. Some of the soundtrack artist have been carried over to this one too like Boom Boom Satellites. They should do a new Ghost In The Shell movie like that. Anyhoo any word on when it's released?

man, I really wanted to like the first movie, but I like watching cell animation--especially when it comes to mecha--but a mix of CGI and cell animation is cool. When it's 100% CGI, I feel like I'm watching a video game and I just don't relate or something. This new AS movie does look better than the last one though, so I'll probably check it out anyway.

I liked the first one, and this looks really cool though the soundtrack seemed kind of an odd choice...

Not to threadjack, but any other cool films out there such as this or Ghost in the Shell?

the first Appleseed totally rocked. Some of the best action mech scenes period.

This video may have been one of those hip video/music mash-ups the kids are doing so i'm not sure about the sound track.

i'm on the fence on getting GiTS Solid State Society. Anyone seen it? I have to admit not being a great fan of Stand Alone Complex.

Looking for any newer good ACTION anime. no comedy, no drama... last good one I purchased was Karas the Prophecy. Awesome.

I don't know if the official US release of Solid State Society is out yet, but there is a good fansubbed torrent out there. Like the TV series, it's dense, and the Uchikoma action is minimal, but it's worth seeing if you enjoyed the TV show. If the show bored you, then I don't recommend this.

If you haven't seen Innocence, though, do so. Visually intriguing and a bit of a mind-bender. I thought it was much more enjoyable than the first movie.

I heard good things about Vexille, which was produced by the same studio as the Appleseed movies. I think that's getting a US release, eventually.

I'd love to see a Maschinen Krieger movie one day, because Nutrocker never really cut the mustard. ;p

Solid State Society aired on SciFi a while back. I think someone here posted about it. I liked it, but I enjoy all the pseudo-philosophical rambling that goes on.

just watched Appleseed Ex-Machina. While good.....not nearly as good as the first Appleseed movie. Not by a long shot.

The story was lame.....

Action sequences not nearly as cool....

a bit disappointing actually

Everyone keeps refering to the first CGI Appleseed as the first movie. There was a 'traditional', hand drawn movie before that and, boy, did it suck!

Yeah, that one did suck.

I liked the Ex Machina. I thought it did everything the first movie did a little bit better, but I agree that the ending got very video gamey and I really zoned out.

My kingdom for a decent Guges toy, though. OLD SCHOOL VOLUME 1 STYLE!

That was one of the first Anime I ever saw.

But I like older Anime more than most people, I'm a huge fan of both Appleseed and Dominion Tank Police both Shirow's work. Also the old Bubblegum Crisis series, the Original Guyver, and the original Devilman.

Dear Tree Hat,
You are so good looking! I want to take you to an island and drink doqwiras out of your ass. Who is your favorite band? I like Enya! When your hat lights up I want to bang your pants off!!!
