It's not my Custom - SHAPE
If anyone has noticed, Vinyl Pulse gave me credit for the custom DUKOWASHI in the upcomming S7 Monster Mash custom show. I just wanted to set the record straight, I did NOT do this custom! I don't know who did but they did a nice job ! I don't have any customs in this show, I did not even know about this show.
Hopefully VP will correct THIER mistake soon. I just wanted to make sure no one thought I was trying to take some credit for something I did NOT do. BIG thanks to Lash for bringing this to my attention. Kudos to the unkown artist too.
Best - SHAPE

from the email announcement....
Not to be outdone, we present a collection of custom figures from the Super7 friends and family kaiju support network. Heavy hitters Paul Kaiju, Kathie Olivas, Bwana Spoons, Koji Harmon, Kyoka Ikeda, Brian Flynn, Leecifer, Bob Conge, Mutant Massacer, Lash, Hiro Hayashi, Joe Huerta, Josh Herbolsheimer and more rub elbows and swap paint with Skullbrain.org regulars and SF locals for a fun filled evening of colorful vinyl chaos.

hey guys,
i apologize for these errors and oversights. leaving people out was certainly not our intention. I sent the same press release including all the names of everyone involved out to all of our promotion folks. I think these are just a couple unfortunate, but simple mistakes that Im working on getting corrected as soon as possible.

sorry to hear this Howard. You're customs are definitely one of the boards best.
I'm not in the show either, ...although my figures are.

Looks like it's going to be another dope show.
I disagree with the bag on KO/BP custom Companion. I think their use of monsters and ghosts is right inline with Kaws and the theme of the show. I've seen a lot of their customs in person and I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts this one looks amazing.

That companion is awesome! I don't think Kaws really cares. Then again I might be talking out of my ass.

bad taste?
i dont understand what you mean, there. I like this piece, although I agree it doesnt look like something Kaws would have done. Its very well done, and uses the piece in an interesting way, i think. just my few cents.

Its very well done, and uses the piece in an interesting way, i think. just my few cents. i see kaws´s 5YL as art, so imo customizing it might be ok if its done in a respectful way showing u know what u have in hands there like the kimpson one from motorbot, awesome piece. she seems to be talented and a ghostland custom by her may look pretty cool but i can hardly see how her surrealistic style and themes fits together with kaws pop art. as its a rare figure, for the toy ethic part silent killer sums it up perfectly for me in the other thread: silent killer wrote: i personlay consider these "toys" peices of art. thats specificly why i dont mind paying what i pay for a piece of vinyl. so its hard for me to think customizing is ok, but i guess when theyr common its allright, again when we get down to limited runs of say 50, certainly anything below 20, i think your being selfish to do something with it, yes, you may own it, but i sortof consider ownership of these things the way id consider ownership of a piece of art. they are in your hands to appreciatye, enjoy, and protect. these will last almost forever and i think there will be people after us who might enjoy them, even if we bring them to our grave. sure they may not end up in those hands but thats beyond you at that point. obviously this is all just my opinion, but i think its lame, but this is coming from someone who wouldnt dare write their name on a CD, so initiling a toy or doing something of the sort is beyond me. i think if you want to customize, get a blank. if you want it to glow under the pain, paint it glow first then go on with the other paint. but leave the hard to gets out there and dont make em even harder to come by : /
...sure, just an opinion, maybe both of us totally wrong here.
