yea it is. i think if it were released here it would be 40 or 50 bucks. shit just cost more (to us) in england
i'll be getting both. you can download it for whatever money you want to contribute evidently
depending on how successful this is, i could see this changing how many bands choose to deal with the record industry

Hmm. Was a huge Radiohead fan years ago. I never did get Hail to the Thief (eventhough I was really excited for it, and downloading all of the live mp3s of the songs that were new before the album came out), but I'm seriously considering getting this.

radiohead changed my music life. before OK computer, i was all about nine inch nails, ministry, stuff like that.
along comes OK computer in 97 and it blows me away. i sold many of my CDs and got into music i never had given a chance before. i still wear OK out to this day. luckily it's on the ipod here so there's no wear and tear on a CD haha

damn nice
i was stuck at shitty ass merryweather post pavilon way out in the grass. 50% of the crowd was too drunk and and the other 50% didnt even know they were at a radiohead show. the parking was atrocious (took over 2 hours to get out of the lot), the jumbo screen didnt work for half the show, and prices were outrageous.
radiohead was good at least!

I hate you.
I want to buy the cd as well. But if anyone is going to download a copy and can burn it onto a cd and send it I'd pay em. (I can't download on my computer.)

It really does come down to if the album is any good (unlikely as it is that it will suck) but no matter what, this is a great example of giving back to your audience. Hopefully others will take a lesson from this.

That comment makes me feel old. Brian Eno music, Dead Can Dance music, Philip Glass, Kryzstof Penderecki, and Gyorgy Ligeti and somehow The Grateful Dead and Mexican folklorists changed my musical life. I mean this in ways that I suspect are very similar to what you're saying. Despite what I suspect is an age difference of 10 - 15 years, I think that anyone saying that this-or-that sort of music changed how they regard music in general is a very positive thing.
While I'm not a Radiohead fan, it's really obvious that lots of intelligent and thoughtful music-heads are. I think the "pay what you feel you can" deal is brilliant. Of course, this is the rare band that can afford to do this, but because of their high profile, they like Prince before them have the clout to get away with it and hold up a mirror to that component of the music industry that is more about greed than art. It also shows faith in the integrity of the fans. Way cool. It will come back to them as respect, and maybe they'll even manage to profit.

I am on the atease board if that's what you mean, but I very rarely post. my board name is actually from the song "fitter happier"
yeah i lucked out with the tickets. i got them the morning they went on sale on waste, and i bought both nights in Boston. the first night we were fifth row center, and the second night we were front row more over to the left on Ed's side.
I also had floor for Madison Square in 2003 which was just beyond belief. we were three people back from the barrier on Johnny's side. Such a good night
I'm really hoping to get to Hollywood Bowl to see them this time. It's one of those things I just need to do.
