something on ebay, yahoo-japan-auctions, secret announcements...that is very hard to find because of wrong listed, listed with an alternate name or you arent aware that it is for sale at a special time on a special location ?

What I want to say is, that some announcements want to be secret and maybe are not posted for a majority, just for die-hard-collectors, true fans, not for flippers, fanclub members or whatever...
Is it ok to post it here for the public ?

I for myself would like to do it whenever I find something cool, cause I got some cool infos as well and would also like to part my infos with you guys...

I for myself am very happy if I get such "secret" infos or "difficult to find" places where some special stuff is for sale.
But I dont know if it would annoy some guys if I make their "secret" public.

I give you an example and would like to know if this is ok for the future:
On yahoo japan is the Halloween version of MURDER BLOB.

I never use to search for "Murder blob", just BLOBPUS....so if youre not searching very specific for MURDER BLOB you wont find it at yahoo japan.

Now, that I made this public, I can imagine that some guys could be pissed because they maybe thought that they were the only ones who noticed/found this item there...and now, it could be that it would go much higher since more people know about it...

What to do

I'd say, say nothing. OR PM people you know want it about it. Like a few folks have it in their wants, pm them and say "hey heads up." But I wouldn't post it, just me though. And usually most of us DO know so no need to say it outloud.

I'll post that websites have things but with auctions Ill usually just shoot members PMs if I know theyre looking for it. but to be honest if its something Im looking for... I keep my eye on the prize and my mouth shut.

I agree. As cool as it is to share info, it's a double-edged sword. In the case of mis-labeled or poorly advertised auctions, if someone is REALLY searching for something they'll run all sorts of queries to find those hard to find auctions. Posting a link may drastically increase their competition and the ending price. These types of auctions are rare gems, and I'd imagine it's very disappointing when they get spoiled.

In the case of emails of an upcoming release that are meant only for the members of that email list I think it's rude to post it to the public - not only to the members, but even more so to the person/store releasing the info/figure. They are trying to do good for their loyals by keeping it under wraps and that should be respected.

If I see someone post something in WANTS and I might know where to get one I'll PM them. I think that's a very good way of sharing info. It's more personal and targets only the people who are interested enough to take 30 seconds to post it in their WANT thread!

Leave it alone. I personally hate when people post auction links etc. here. There are a lot of people that work hard for this stuff and blowing the lid off of a collectors dream really sucks. Like others mentioned above, a private pm or simple silence is the way to go IMO.

I agree with the opinions in favor of discretion, even though that shuts me out of a lot of info, still being a Fresh Meat and all. I don't enjoy seeing auction links posted. We all know where to go when our cash is burning a hole in our wallets.

Kaiju-Taro's e-mails used to ask recipients not to share pre-release news, but it seems they've stopped including that line in their e-mails. I believe Maxtoy Club asks that people not share release info before it goes public at the site. Given high demand and low availability for so much stuff, this does help weed out the flippers and short-timers, but sometimes it seems there's a fine line between sharing info with "the right people" and elitist hoarding. Oh well, part of the game.

The thing is you might be surprised to know that your "secret," "lucky," or "private" information is actually well-known by a number of collectors--several of whom may want the item.

For instance in your halloween blobpus example, it's true that "blobpus" is not listed in the auction, but the JP characters for blobpus is; and that is a search I perform every day (as I'm sure many others do as well).

Thus by posting that information on a public board, you may have actually taken the item away from a true blobpus collector and given it to someone who is just after some profit (e.g. flippers).

This is exactly how I found them too (and the Halloween Kaijins that I purchased).

hunting is half the battle(actually all of it)
people spend way to much time on there comp(myself included) looking for things using translaters that dont werk etc etc
so for instant this ( rare item ) that you didnt specify(SP) if we were really hunting it would have already found
but anyway i dont have the loot to drop on this item so good luck you ever if anyone picks this up
